One of the most interesting part of living is the variety of food around us, ranging from the distinct appearance to the aroma, to the taste. And due to greater knowledge, cooking is considered an art
Criteria for determining a delicious meal starts from the appearance to the aroma that hits us and then the taste on our taste bud down to the health benefits...
• Do you have any motivation to work on your cooking techniques or are you satisfied with your level right now?
I would like to improve on some of my cooking techniques.
I've had the opportunity to taste some really delicious meals and I'm convinced that I need to do better.
One time, I went to visit a cousin of mine at her residence and she served me one of our local delicacies Editan soup.
I was sceptical about the meal cause I don't enjoy eating it when I prepare it at home, but the appearance of the meal was appealing and when I tasted the soup, it was so delicious and I knew I've definitely been missing something.
I pay attention to different recipes I see online, and if it's the regular, I effect into practice. I'm also working on garnish and meal decorations.
• What becomes your weak point when you face cooking?
Quantity of ingredients to put in the meal such as salt, seasoning, spices and water.
It can particularly be challenging when I'm cooking for people with different preferences in a meal.
For instance in my family, mother prefers meal with less salt and seasoning. Less as in not tasty. Father on the other hand prefers tasty and spicy food and so do I.
Sometimes, in trying to create a balance, I use more salt and less seasoning.
Asides that, everything is fine. If the aim is not to please anyoneand just be myself, I can say I'm more confident with my cooking.
• Share with us that chef that inspires you to try out new dishes
I've come across post from quite a number of local chefs. Most often randomly online.
But I'll say a chef that has really inspired me is chef Titi. She's a local chef around my locality. She mostly specialize in local delicacies and breakfast. She cooks on order and I've had the opportunity to taste some of her delicacies and scramble from client's order. She's really spontaneous, and ever ready try out different recipes.
Also, the way she garnishes her meal especially her breakfast is really appetizing.
I'm usually really motivated by her and I do try out some of her recipes.
• Have you ever engaged in any cooking competition? If yes, share with us, and if no, do you ever think you will be among the best 3 if competition arises?
I've not engage in any cooking competition.
But I do believe that my meal can secure me a place in the first 3 places.
At least I'm not so bad and I've seen some persons cook and I've adopted certain procedure to improve my culinary skills.
