Hey everyone,
Welcome to this week's food for thought! How have the previous topics been? Have you ever taken the time to really think about them and take them to heart?
Remember, every day is a chance to improve ourselves!
"It's better to hold back than to say something you'll regret" may sound like a saying, but it's true. Just imagine enjoying a delicious meal and accidentally biting your tongue - you'd stop eating, right?
Biting your tongue can be a sign that maybe you're talking too much, spreading lies, or gossiping. Sometimes, it's best to hold back and think before you speak, to avoid hurting others. Our words can be more harmful than we realize.
Words can have a lasting impact on someone. Hurtful words can be destructive, and we shouldn't disregard how our words affect others.
Some of us are quick to reveal others' secrets or take pleasure in seeing others in pain. Proverbs 21:23 says, "Those who guard their mouths and their tongues keep themselves from calamity."
So, why would you allow yourself to be used in such a harmful way? It's like cutting off a hand or a leg to avoid danger. Perhaps biting your tongue is a way to correct yourself.
I used to bite my tongue often as a child, but now as an adult, it's a rare occurrence.
This week, I want to remind you to be mindful of what you say. Sometimes, the truth you want to share can be dangerous for others. It's not foolishness; it's wisdom. Think before you speak, and know when to keep quiet.
Let's not let our words continue to hurt others. Let's guard our tongues.
I'll leave you to reflect on this. Remember, every day is an opportunity to be better. Take care, and see you next week!
