Thursday Daily Dynamics & Ladies Power Up Challenge Week 2, My Commitment To Steem Growth

Hi there!

My dearest diary, who says you cannot kill two birds with one stone? Or, feed two birds with one scone?

Here I am taking part in Steem For Ladies' Thursday Daily Dynamics plus I am taking part in a power up contest hosted in this community.

I could not help but think about multitasking.

The debate about if men can multitask has been going on for many years. Can I share a little secret with you?
Both genders can multitask however, men are just slower than women. The sad news is that we women only have this advantage until we reach middle age. Sshhh! I mustn’t let my hubby hear this.

RISE AND SHINE

Getting up early when living on the coast is a must. If you don’t you miss out on the beautiful sunrise over the ocean.

Today getting up was not at sunrise as it was overcast. Not that I am complaining as the heatwave is broken.

What caught my attention this morning was the slight breeze blowing from the ocean bringing the ocean smell closer to our home. It was the first time that it was so prominent since our move.

That brings me to a, “did you know”?

Did you know that you cannot smell saltwater or seawater yet there is always a stale yet unique pleasant smell to it?

This is all the doing of three molecules and a scientific part of the composition of ocean water.

Dimethyl Sulfide: For that sulfurous smell. This comes from a particular species of plankton which is digested by bacteria. Birds use this smell to their advantage as it helps them to disingenuous where fish are mainly.

Dictiopterene: the sexual call attractants of female or brown algae. This is also the smell you will find in oriental cuisines and seaweed.

Bromophenol This chemical compound gives the ocean that smell of iodine. What is interesting is that so far fish farmers have been unsuccessful in their attempt to give farm fish this smell.

EARLY MORNING

It was time to get the family ready for work and school. I served a light breakfast, avocado pear on toast. Not only is it yummy but it is also healthy and a lifesaver if you don’t have much time.

After serving breakfast and packing lunch boxes I had to get finished quickly. We had painters coming in plus I’ve sold a pool table that we bought with the property and the company doing the transport scheduled the pick-up for early morning.

I don’t know what it is but every time we buy a property we get a pool table with it and we don’t even play pool. This pool time was a grand old dame!

With the pool table gone, painters painting, and the domestic help busy washing curtains I eventually had some time to answer some Steemit notifications, read some posts, vote, and comment.

MOM’S TAXI IS ON THE MOVE

Mom’s taxi only moved once today, to school and back. I had to fetch my stepson from school.

These days it is so easy. We stay on the main beach road. From our home, it is 100m to the beach, 500m to hubby’s office, and 2km to the school. All are on the same road. Gone are the days of riding in traffic.
What is also nice is that a new shopping center opened close to the school. If I need to do any shopping for home I just stop there before or after school.

It seems that in the long run, this taxi is going to save on fuel. Yeah!

What was left to do was power up. The most important task for the day as it took me closer to that 20,000 and the next dolphin.

FROM DUSK TO DAWN

I still don’t know which is the most beautiful… dusk or dawn. Both mesmerize one with the tranquillity it holds. Dusk for its enthusiasm that only a new day can bring and dawn that fills you with peacefulness at the end of a long and busy day.

As the sun slowly goes under over the valley I noticed the various animals returning to their homes. The hadeda that made their nests in our African teak trees and the monkeys with the leader in front and the moms with their babies at the back.

I can only sigh and say thank you for another fulfilling day.
