AN EPISODE OF MY LIFE: Trying out new things

in hive-168072 •  11 months ago  (edited)

Hi, steemians today was another day in the life of a Nigerian university student for me, my school is getting close to exam period so we all are busy with reading or just trying to catch up with our school work.

Asides the fact that we have been having unsteady light in my area, my day was okay. I got to spend little time with my friend and also read a little. I was thinking to myself what to write today, and something on my list this year is to try new things, i will like to share some things i made.

#PuffPuff

Puff puff is like an everyday Nigerian snack and very easy to make. At first when i wanted to make it, i was worried that i wouldn't get the shape right but i still went for it.

Ingredients i used to make puff puff
Flour, yeast, sugar, milk, nutmeg, baking powder, oil and water.
Everyone has their own preference, i followed the recipe i saw online and it actually came out nice.
Procedure

  • pour in your floor, nutmeg, yeast, powdered milk, sugar into a bowl
  • Add water into that mixture and knead for like 5mins to get air to enter into the dough
  • leave to rise for like an hour or more
  • place into a pot oil and let it heat up enough
  • then you use your hands to scoop the dough into a ball and allow to fry

This one, i was really excited to make it, although i didn't have all the ingredients so i had to improvise and it still came out nice.

For the ingredients; i used soft chicken thighs, egg, flour, cornflakes or bread crumbs.
Procedure
Into my flour i added a pinch of salt, dry pepper, same as the egg then i dipped the chicken, into the egg then into the flour, then into the cornflakes and i repeated the process twice before deep frying it.

The meaning is actually gizzard and plantain sauce. I have been improvising lately, so i used chicken chest instead which still came out nice

  • Ingredients i used are green pepper, yellow pepper, spring onions, plantain and spices

  • i just diced them up, the plantains and chicken

  • then i fried them separately

  • then for the sauce i stir fried the peppers with the spring onion and i added a little mix of blended pepper (tomato and red bell pepper)

  • then i added my spices which is salt, dry pepper, seasoning cubes, ginger, garlic.

  • then i added everything and mixed it together and you get that result
It can be used for rice, spaghetti basically as a side dish.

One thing i want to pick out of this is not to be afraid of trying something new, you never know what you can do or achieve until you try.
I better get back to my books now, byeeee.

It's a pleasure
Thank you😊

You know how we call your Puff Puff in the Netherlands? Oliebollen (oilballs).
We use the same ingredients except for the nutmeg. It's a custom to eat it on New Year's Eve.
We also add raisins and small pieces of apple through the dough.

On fairies you will find them cut open en filled with pineapple , custard or whatever people like.

It was great reading about your day. 🍀❤️

Wow that's nice
Maybe i will try to make oliebollen on of these days.
Thank you
