Hello friends and beautiful ladies of steemforladies community.

Traffic In Lagos

Traffic congestion in Lagos Nigeria is one thing that Lagos city had been known for.

This is as a result of the over crowded nature of Lagos.

The over populated nature of Lagos is no more a news. Lagos is the most populated city in the whole of Africa according to statistics.

This makes a lot of things outrageous in the city, among which traffic congestion is one of them.

Due to the over populated nature of Lagos, the vehicles in the city are much, yet it can't still contain the population.

On one occasion, I was going for an appointment and I spent more than an hour waiting for a bus heading to my direction.

The below picture is one of this occasions.

That day, there was serious traffic congestion on the road, so the buses was not able to get to the station on time due to the traffic congestion.

I stood under the sun waiting for a bus for more than an hour going for a journey which was supposed to take me less than 45 minutes to arrive.

Below is another traffic congestion I encountered on Lagos road.

In Lagos one can be in a traffic for like 3, 4, 5 hours.

Once one has an appointment in Lagos, it is advisable to leave 2 to 3 hours ahead of time, depending on the distance of the location.

In my first experience of traffic congestion in Lagos in 2019, I had an appointment for 8am, but I got to the location by 12pm, it is that bad.

It is more difficult for those that works 9 to 5 job.

I know a lot of persons in a bid to beat traffic, they leave their houses as early as 4am, so as to meet up with time at work, and they come back by 11pm or 12am daily due to traffic.

People that work 9 to 5 job suffer it the more, even if you have your personal car.

I have heard of a couple of parents who resigned from their job, due to the nature of Lagos and it's traffic.

This parents fall amongst those that leaves the house by 4am and comes back by 11pm to 12am. And as a result of this, the children doesn't know them.

I heard of a nurse who resigned from her job, because the kids took the nanny as their mum and was calling her aunty whenever they sees her.

I also heard of another man who resigned from his job, because the kids never knew him, he always goes to work while they were asleep and comes back while they are also asleep.

So he got a leave from work a certain day, only for the kids to be treating him as a stranger.

One major thing that discouraged me in getting a 9 to 5 job since I had been living in Lagos is traffic, I couldn't bear the stress since after my last job in 2019, I had to resort to online.

The stress people pass through just to get on the road in Lagos is so much. There is no day, that the road is usually free.

One must meet traffic at a certain spot.

I don't think there could be any traffic measures that could be applied to curtail this traffic congestions due to the much population.

Except we start using airplanes and choppers in Lagos, any measure related to the ground will not work.

If we say let's expand the road, the roads are wide enough, but on the other hand, no more space for road expansion.

Everywhere is just too congested.

This is the height of traffic congestion in the city of Lagos.

If you are living in Lagos, you will understand better or if you have visited Lagos and encountered traffic, you will understand better.

This is my entry to contest, thank you @patjwell for this contest topic.

It's really a complete waste of time, once trapped in traffic.

I can't imagine the stress you go through daily.
I have made my entry already. Thanks for the invite, though.
All the best.

I didn't border getting a 9 to 5 job, I don't have strength for that stress, that's why I resorted to online activities.

So thoughtful of you.

Oh my word!! This is hectic!
I've heard about the traffic in Lagos but to read it "first hand" is a different story.
It looks walking will go faster.

Good luck with the contest!.

Seriously, most times once the traffic gets so intensed people walk home.
Because of this if I have any appointments, I make sure I leave my house very on time, and make sure i don't attend to any other thing for that day

I am so glad that I don't stay in a big city anymore. (•ิ‿•ิ)
