Memories are like clouds; they flow and drift in our brains.
.........
It has not been in my nature to reflect on a year's memories, primarily because some spark so many uncomfortable emotions, and make me remorseful for my past mistakes and failings.
I typically liked to focus on the present reality and plan for the future instead. However, this time, I have decided to soak in both positive and negative emotions.
Going through my journal made me realise how much I have accomplished and areas I still need to improve on in my personal development, relationship and career.
I will share some highlights of my 2024, including the valuable insights I drew from each situation.

To be able to lead, you need to learn how to manage your emotions, time and goals effectively.
On my appointment and ratification as a judge in the NAAKISS Court of Appeal (worldwide), I realised the importance of developing every leader's secret weapon - emotional intelligence (EI).
Emotional intelligence is the ability to be aware of, manage, and express your emotions, as well as handle interpersonal relationships with empathy. EI is a crucial skill that involves active listening and empathy. These are what keep your emotions and behaviours in check. Without this, it would be difficult to respond to situations in a calm and calculative manner.
It exposed me to the realities most judicial officers face in the real world. Particularly on aspects of ethics and integrity.
Building my emotional intelligence not only made me empathetic to people when deciding their fate, but it also helped me to influence others, which collectively contributes to my success as a leader.

Most young people struggle with communicating their thoughts effectively in words. This lack of persuasive power make it difficult for them to influence others and advocate for causes they believe in.
Michelle Obama would say, “Just try new things. Do not be afraid. Step outside of your comfort zones and soar.”
So, I made a conscious effort in 2024 to improve my public speaking and advocacy skills. Took some classes and even volunteered at events which aligned with my interest.
It feels good when I see people make informed decisions based on something I said or wrote about. It would be incomplete not to mention that I have been able to network with like-minded individuals and gradually learnt how to deal with stage fright.

Steemit has been so beneficial to me beyond the financial rewards. From reading the thoughts of others, to writing and hanging out with Steemians. It is nothing compared to last year.
Sincerely, I am grateful to everyone who made an effort to connect, support and honour my contest invites. My social skills just got improved by staying active on this platform.
I finally became a graduate in November 2024. It came more like a surprise because I had not expected my school to organise the convocation so fast. Nonetheless, I am grateful to acquire education which is the foundation for all human development. The knowledge I got from the 4 years spent studying my dream course has taken me to places I would barely have imagined.
If there is anything I am grateful for in 2024, it is the ability to grow and become a better human. Cheers to a successful 2025!
With this, I'd say 2024 was made specially for you.
You took every opportunity and went all in to crush them.
I celebrate you, @ukpono.
