Hey everyone, I'm happy to be back on this contest, had a little issue, but I've worked it out, I want to first of all thank @patjewell for still keeping the contest "choices alive. Today I'll like to contribute to one of the topics, and I'll be focusing on the topic title, TORNADO.
WHAT ARE TORNADOES |
---|
Tornadoes are very powerful storms. They have the power to inflict extensive damage to structures and persons. They appear as a dark, swirling cloud that strikes the ground. They are frequently encountered during strong thunderstorms. Tornadoes arise when warm, wet air meets cold, dry air. When these air masses collide, it causes a spinning motion in the atmosphere. This whirling motion can sometimes turn into a tornado.
Tornadoes typically occur in areas with a high frequency of thunderstorm activity. Tornadoes are common in the United States, especially in the region referred to as Tornado Alley. This region encompasses states such as Texas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. That being said, tornadoes can occur anywhere in the world.
HOW THEY LOOK |
---|
A tornado can rise and move very quickly. Tornadoes have a maximum speed of 100 miles per hour. They may be very destructive, demolishing anything in their path, including buildings and trees. There are variations in the size and power of tornadoes. To measure tornado strength, use the Enhanced Fujita (EF) scale. Tornadoes classified as EF0 are the weakest, while EF5 are the strongest and most dangerous. The shape of a tornado is unique. They resemble a funnel, having a broad base that gets smaller as it gets closer to the ground. With gusts of up to 300 miles per hour, the funnel's whirling winds have the potential to be very strong.
WHEN THEY OCCUR |
---|
Though they can occur at any time of year, tornadoes are most frequently seen in the spring and summer when the temperature is warm and humid. The most unstable times of day for them to happen are in the afternoon or evening.
When a tornado is about to hit, meteorologists can alert people by tracking it with radar and other instruments.
Immediately seek shelter in a solid building or underground bunker in the event of a tornado warning. There is safety to be found in a storm cellar or basement. Interior rooms on the lowest floor of your house are the finest choice if you don't have a cellar. While outside walls and windows can collapse during a tornado, it's crucial to avoid these areas.
SAFETY MEASURES TO TAKE DURING A TORNADO STORM |
---|
Tornadoes can be frightening, but there are ways to keep yourself safe. In the event of a tornado, it is critical to be prepared and have a plan in place. This involves knowing where to seek shelter and keeping an emergency kit stocked with food, water, and a torch. It is critical to proceed with caution after a tornado has passed. There may be downed power lines, broken glass, and other risks. It is important to wait for authorities to give the all-clear before going outside.
CONCLUSION |
---|
To sum up, tornadoes are strong storms with a high potential for harm. They originate from the spinning action of warm, humid air in the atmosphere colliding with cold, dry air. Despite their differences in size and power, all tornadoes have the capacity to wreak havoc. To keep safe during tornado season, it's critical to be organized and have a strategy in place.
Having said all these, I'll love to invite @ekemini01, @blessedp and @uduak01 to comment on this post, and also participate by dropping an entry. Thanks for reading, I hope you learnt something today.

Wow nice one sis
I have learnt so much about this natural phenomenon. I am glad it doesn't affect our country because we don't have the technology for it.
