Dove - always a good reputation

in hive-168072 •  8 months ago  (edited)

The dove, the rat among the birds, spreading most diseases of all birds, is pooping everywhere, the type of poop most of us don't like or can use. It's aggressive and bites through paint, destroys art, architecture and everything a culture should be proud of. The last is what is left of times we are no longer allowed to remember.

Yesterday I showed my youngest the house my grandfather rebuilt after the Second World War. It was his second project. He exchanged his renovated house with a view of the 'Biljoen' with a vet for this bombed ruin.

You could have lived here, I said, instead of the pathetic place you live now. She shrugged her shoulders, my past sounds like something that never existed. There's not much left of the 'rich' life I once experienced.

At the top of the attic is the maid's chamber, I tell her and we walk to the back. Frankly speaking, I am shocked by what I see. All this my grandfather cared so much about, cherished. I wish I could have bought this house sold for 2 million euros. I remember how it was here I heard doves for the first time. I still associate them with warm summers, that is if I hear them even though they are a burden today. I have no idea where they all came from but suddenly they appeared, only a few years ago, and today my home looks like a shelter of doves building nests and raising their offspring at least 4 times a year! Doves have nothing to do with summer they arrive out of the blue and stay. They do not bring peace but are bugging my wolves and the heaps of poop they leave behind are shocking. I wonder what they eat.

Ever seen a dove's nest or a pigeon's?

While I watch the house I spent a part of my childhood I wonder if the inside is still the same. The street hasn't changed much and the church looks clean so does the square around it. It looks new and so does the religion ruling this church today.

Goodbye house, I will not live long enough to buy you, I hope those new people love you.

The village is quiet I can't hear a single bird. Perhaps it is because it's winter again and all birds hide? It is so different from the countryside where it is where all the birds are gathered making so much sound that one can hardly hear himself think let alone have a normal conversation.

To those who believe doves (pigeons) are rare because cities fight them don't worry there is no lack of birds and for sure not if it comes to doves. Those dove-lovers are keeping plenty of them alive even if they kill each unwanted offspring. Have you ever seen a person do this, they just grab the small one and throw it against the wall. The best dove comes from a long lime of incest which isn't much different from all these dogs and cats, or other animals, with a pedigree.
Doves not living in captivity are all gathered at my place if not on the average square in cities.

I never ate dove or is it pigeon although it was on the menu of my favourite Greek restaurant. Although I talked a lot with the owners and knew them for years I never asked who delivered these birds.

'dove' the word reminds me of my friend Marie. She died on March 9th of a 'kidney failure'. She said: What idiot calls a piece of soap dove (dove means deaf in Dutch). It's good enough for me not to buy this brand.

A dove seems allround. It's strange how a bird far from good for the health can still have and keep a good reputation. It must be a human thing to be brainwashed enough to trust what is (mostly) white. I doubt it was about delivering the mail otherwise we all would totally adore the post (wo)man (I do mine by the way).

My courtyard receives daily visits from doves, pigeons, sparrows, turtledoves and little reptiles. My couple loves to have animals visiting us (about pigeons, not at all, as they carry many bacterias, but we love all the rest of birds and little reptiles). We always live water and food to feed them.

I wonder why pigeons spread that many diseases. They cause a lung disease too... Even to those who never pet one 🤔 and it kills unless you receive a new lung.

With you the birds are as diverse as with me. We have woodpeckers too. 😁

A happy day to you.

Woodpeckers, very nice!😁

Hi @wakeupkitty,

Thank you for contributing 10% of your post to support community growth.

It was an interesting read. Even though doves are often seen as symbols of peace, they can actually be a real trouble when they invade homes. For some reason I always hate doves.

We seem to be blind for their negative and health dangerous side. Isn't that interesting?

I read this will calmness even though the dove's mess almost sounded loud but I am still calm. Life is a place where people struggle to gain so much, to leave a legacy or atleast something for the next generation but as the saying in Nigeria my country goes:who first buy car buy old model. Meaning whoever buys first got the old type cos constantly new and better ones are produced and one will what they term NEW MONEY, will buy the new luxuries and make the former old, so rushing sometimes isn't always advised. On YouTube and from stories I hear of how once rich men build mansions that later get abandoned, it hurts me. They wanted to leave something good behind but life made their left properties too expensive to maintain and gradually becomes the doves quarter and kids hunted story tales. Sorry friend, but you will live long and blessings will locate you, that will make you acquire that property and give it that exquisite touch it needs. Grand dad will be proud again.

The house was build in 19th century, I don't live long enough to ever have that money but if you are invited to stay forever. You will like it. We will ban out the bad spirits.

We buy old cars because if a modern car has an isuue their can be 18 different reasons for it (thanks to electronica) most can never figure out what causes it meaning the car owner can pay and pay and pay without a result.
I read rich people never buy a brandnew car because it is a waste of money.

🍀❤️

We will be alright and build new ones and create brand new memories.

Interesting reading about dove in this perspective. Most times it's live testimonies such as this that makes us understand some aspects of the things we fancy so well.

All my life I've heard and read that doves are peaceful birds until I've read that it is also aggressive.

It's really nice reading through, best wishes ma'am.

It is the same with ladybugs. They are just bugs and can bite in a mean way. If it comes to it, it may be the perfect insect to presentate love.

Some animals their negative or dangerous sides are ignored while other animals never seem to have a positive side. 🤔

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to read me.
A warm hug to you.

It's always my pleasure ma'am, a lot of lessons have been learned.

¡Saludos amiga!😊

A very interesting story; we've got plenty of doves and pigeons in our place too and it doesn't seem that they spoil the surfaces a lot. Maybe because they often migrate. I remember reading an article about the bird slaughter in North America. Some time later (around 1800-s), the whole species of bird called passenger pigeon was extinct.

I'm glad you've had an opportunity to see your grandfather's house. Thank you for sharing!

Can be migrating is the reason there is less damage. If in big cities and fed they might not leave. About 5 years ago we had no pigeons/doves next I saw 7 at the neighbour's house, small ones. Today they are all over the area, also bigger ones. In autumn my daughter said the shooting we heard was at the pigeons.

It looked quiet for a few weeks but they are there, so are the nests and heaps of poop (always sitting at the same spot).

It was nice to see that the house looks the same from the outside, even the frontgarden and people live in it, many of these houses are changed into appartments or offices.

🍀❤️

It's true most people have a good perception towards doves, I had never thought they were so bad, except for transmitting some diseases, but I think most people are never so close to them.

You made me recall the reduction in number of doves for a while in some places here in my country.

Thanks for inviting me, I hope I can participate, I'm not so focused these days.

Your grandpa did a great job, I'm sorry you don't enjoy it anymore.

Blessings

Thank you for stopping by. I hope you are alright.
Doves/pigeons bring joy to some which is a good thing but they are not just positive which seems to be the thought.

My grandfather put his soul in this house also the inside (fireplaces, marmor floors, the decorated ceilings) I have the memories of him playing trumpet, the closets where one can hide and many more.

Take good care of yourself. Blessings to you.

What interests me very much when you write articles is the fact that not many will look into it. This time is about the dove which is particularly loved by most people. What I love about doves is that there are plenty in the wild and I can catch them for food when I need it, rather than other kinds of endangered species.

Do you mean not many comment or really read what is written or?
If it comes to this entry I consider it a freewrite, hopefully it is an easier read than the art & writing contest. That one took me at least 3 days, researc as well and it is a kind of note for what more I plan to write about (it was a request).

There are plenty of doves with you too? Interesting they seem to be everywhere. Positive indeed is you can eat them. Are they easy to catch/kill?

If I can reach the nests I remove them. Eggs/young pigeons I feed to the wolves. As soon as a nest is removed the adults start building again :(

Nope,... what I mean is when I read your post/entry ( no matter what is it) I read an "out of the box" of your original thought. It gives me ideas to write things just like the old time back in 2018.

In this post, many write about how lovely the dove is, but you see it from a different light so you came up with the conclusion.

Not really, in my place, there is no way to raise the pet dove, because when they can fly, they will fly away and become wild dove. When I was in the jungle I set traps and caught them for food easily.

If I can reach the nests I remove them. Eggs/young pigeons I feed to the wolves. As soon as a nest is removed the adults start building again :(

It is a bit sad, but considering there are millions of them it can be good for the wolves they will love it as extra food. If I have so many of them I will definitely sell them to restaurants

It is life...the circle of life to be eaten. If doves are with that many it means there are no natural enemies and it's getting a plague. It's the same if it comes to rabbits.

My wolfs need to eat and preferable meat.

What will the restaurants cook with them? It would be a good business. 😉
