"Rain" fiction story

It is again raining, Rick woke up and felt still very tired, it was a long evening yesterday because he needed to prepare his lecture for the start of new University year. He was a lecturer and taught History, he loved history and was always very excited when he was sharing his opinion about the past of London, the mystery of Old London and of course, Jack the Ripper. He also had a fun that while his speech and theories about Jack, the foreign students who were not really family with Jack’s story were stunned and it was so quite in the hall that one can hear the breath of students on first row but also if anyone would drop a pen that could give a fright because it everyone was very concentrated.

Rick, or Professor Cuthbert this is how he was called by his colleagues or Prof. “C” how his students called him among themselves was a lecturer for the last 20 years, that was his University, where he was a student too. He loved his University and did not want to leave this place, he has a little apartment and he loved to walk to his work.

It is autumn and as typical Londoner he loved this season, he always had his umbrella when he was going to work, not only because of rain but just because he felt himself like in old time. Slowly due to his love to history his whole outfit was changed in style of 1880-90, he thought that it is good to have this opportunity of having such variety of clothes that can bring one back in time. That was also something that his students loved in him.

It is early morning and raining, that means he can use his favourite outfit: a long coat with standing up collar, his hat and black umbrella, he imagined that he was a detective going through foggy London to the place of a new homicide scene. Slowly he knew everything about Jack the Ripper and was thinking that if he would be able to travel back in time, he probably will be able to solve the problem. Yes! That was a topic that he wanted to discuss with his auditorium today: Tome travel to catch Jack the Ripper!

I would like to invite @saimaqasim, @joan-na and @uzma4882 for this contest

🌞 Wow, what a delightful story! 📚 It's so refreshing to see a tale that combines history, mystery, and a dash of fantasy. I love how Professor Cuthbert's passion for Jack the Ripper has transported him (and his students) back in time! 😊 The imagery is vivid, and I can almost feel the raindrops on my umbrella as I imagine Rick strolling through foggy London.

Your writing style is engaging, and I'm hooked from the first sentence. Kudos to you for participating in @ruthjoe's contest - good luck with your story! 🤞

Now, let's chat about this story... What do you think Professor Cuthbert's students would say if they knew their lecturer was a time-traveling detective? 🤣 Would Rick be able to solve the mystery of Jack the Ripper, or would he become lost in the foggy streets of London?

Feel free to share your thoughts and ideas! Let's keep the conversation going... 💬
