My sister is celebrating her 40th year. It was a moment to be celebrated but she wasn't feeling all that excited for someone celebrating 40 years of being alive and not seeing him for long.
She was so indifferent that it got me thinking about what could be wrong.
She said she didn't know how she would feel as she doesn't feel there's anything to celebrate much compared to what she has planned for herself.
Not that's she's not grateful to God for all the things she has but she feels like she hasn't achieved much, that why she quiet and indifferent.
There's a saying, that as you grow in age, make sure you are also growing in knowledge, in finances, in your personal development. But it seems like she has been stagnant with no tangible results to show for it.
Even the studio pics she wanted to take were placed on hold.
I realized this can happen to anyone, after going to school with the desire to have corporate work but couldn't find any after several job hunting.
She eventually started her own catering business which has been doing so well over the years.
But despite it all, she feels like she should have done more, and achieved more things than what she has now.

So, that begs to ask
What's your definition of success? I would love to know.
To some, it's to go to school, get good grades, get married, and have kids, then you have a successful life
For some, a good-paying job that defines their success
Others, marrying a rich man is what they dream of. They think once a rich man comes their way, they are made for. But what of what gives you satisfaction?
Sometimes, it's the definition of other people's opinions that they hold dear to heart. Seeking validation from the public before they can confirm they are successful.
She took me and her kids out for a plate of catfish pepper soup with a malt drink to celebrate the day. The kids took the time to watch the fish pond in the building.
Thankfully, she was able to brighten up after talking to her friends and family. We also reminisced down memory lane and gradually, you get to realise you've achieved a lot more than you give yourself credit for.
In the end, I thank God we were able to put everything behind us because gratitude is an attitude that makes each passing day a lot easier to deal with.
Never underestimate the power you have to take your life in a new direction.
