BSMMU VC said, '700 adult dengue patients were admitted in our university. 3 of them died. 200 dengue patients have been treated in the pediatric department, all of whom have recovered. Our service quality has increased a lot since earlier, which is appreciated by the high level people of the country.
He said, 'Dengue prevention is better than treatment. Everyone should come forward to prevent dengue. Schools, colleges, university students, NGO workers and political workers should be involved in the eradication of dengue mosquito Aedes. Politicians should carry out programs with emphasis on prevention of dengue at present.
He also said, 'Dengue treatment management is not only done by the doctors of the medical department, but the doctors of different departments should be involved in it. Adequate care should be taken in fluid management. Because over fluid and lack of fluid is harmful to the patient. It can even lead to the death of the patient.
It has been said that the critical period of dengue fever is when the patient leaves the fever. 48-72 hours after the cessation of fever is the critical period for dengue patients. This is an important reason for dengue fever, during which the patient needs to be hospitalized.
The dangerous symptoms of dengue fever are - continuous vomiting, bleeding, severe weakness, severe abdominal pain, watery lungs, severe shortness of breath. Pregnant mothers, cancer patients, uncontrolled diabetes, kidney transplant dengue patients should be admitted to the hospital quickly for treatment.
Even if the platelets of dengue patients fall below 10,000, there is no need for blood transfusion, it is better to transfuse blood (whole blood), not platelets. If the blood pressure drops in a patient with dengue fever, it is not appropriate to refer it.
Dengue shock should be managed within 4-6 hours. Referring a patient with low blood pressure may worsen the patient en route. So management should be ensured in that hospital without referring the dengue shock patient. There is no need to eat dab, papaya leaves, papaya juice, dragon fruit currant etc. separately in dengue fever.
Dengue patient management does not require much testing, CBC test is sufficient. Among the CBC tests, WBC nip count and hematocrit count are the most important. Children with dengue should be more careful. Because children can't clearly tell if there is a problem in their body. Children with dengue may appear normal from the outside, but children can go into dengue shock syndrome at any time.
Therefore, proper monitoring of children with dengue should be done so that any problem can be managed quickly. There are three types of dengue vaccine. It is allowed for travelers. More research is needed before the vaccine can be used in the public.
