On the planet, pollution levels have caused an imbalance in the environment, the proliferation of diseases and we frequently observe this. Air pollution is something crazy, oxygen, such an elemental element to live, we ourselves are making it unbreathable.

• What are the main sources of air pollution in our environment?

In my environment there are no large factories that release large quantities of polluting smoke into the air, nor are there large fossil fuel refiners, but what is abundant is a huge fleet of vehicles that are releasing carbon monoxide into the air every day and this It accumulates in the atmosphere.

There are many cars that do not carry out adequate maintenance and are circulating on the streets releasing a lot of pollution, burning fuel, burning oil, leaving a lot of pollution wherever they go. This occurs in small vehicles and large vehicles, whether they are privately owned or owned by the government itself.

To a lesser extent, but it also occurs from people burning materials that are lethal to the environment. Lighting a tire, throwing poisonous insecticides, indiscriminate burning of garbage, there are many factors that contribute to air pollution.

• How does air pollution affect human health, especially vulnerable groups like children and the elderly?

Air pollution is extremely dangerous for humanity, water and air are life, without one of them we die. The current levels of air pollution, especially in large cities, are very alarming, even leading to the population in certain places having to have special masks to be able to go out on the streets.

As our body grows in adolescents, young people and adults, that is, in an age of plenty, our body adapts to a certain extent to the conditions of the air, in short, they have a strong body to be able to face unsuitable conditions.

In children, when they are born, their lungs are designed to breathe oxygen; when they encounter this contamination, their lungs become sick. With elderly people it happens that the body begins to decay due to natural conditions and the body's defenses are no longer equal to its years of fullness and this is where diseases related to the air come from..

• What are some common symptoms or health issues caused by exposure to polluted air?

Depending on the intensity of the air pollution and the extension of the person to the existing pollution, there may be several, including:

• Allergies with flu
• Pneumonia
• Tuberculosis
• Apnea
• Breathing problems
• Vomiting
• Dizziness
• Weakness and general malaise

Depending on how it is, the immune system can trigger in some and others, it can lead to other, more lethal conditions, such as developing even lung cancer or anything that refers to the respiratory system.

• How can individuals contribute to reducing air pollution in their daily lives?

As simple as reducing the emission of known carbon by fixing the vehicle you own, in addition to buying aerosols that do not damage the ozone layer, avoiding the indiscriminate burning of garbage and toxic materials that damage the air. By planting a tree we contribute to purifying the air of polluting agents.

From our homes we can contribute to eliminating air pollution, at least not contributing more to pollution. If we collaborate, nature does the rest, I say this because in my country Venezuela there is an area where lightning strikes non-stop every day, it is called the catatumbo lightning and it regenerates the ozone layer, we the polluting agents that we release into the air, Nature repairs that damage, the thing is that we are faster at polluting.

• How does air pollution vary between urban and rural areas?

Air pollution is a thousand times greater in urban areas than in rural areas, this is because in urban areas there are very few trees, these help purify the air, many times they are non-existent. In rural areas, vegetation is predominant and the emission of pollution is very little. You can see that the air in rural areas is pure, while in urban areas, breathe deeply and you begin to cough from inhaling a large amount of smoke.

We cannot eliminate trees and maintain protected areas that contribute to the balance of the environment, particularly to air purification.
