WHAT IS ACNE?

Hello friends👋! Hope we are good! As a young teenager, one of the challenges I faced was having to struggle with getting rid of acne. From experience let me tell you what acne is but let me appreciate @suboohi first for the contest.

Acne is a condition that appears on the skin when our pores are clogged with dirt, oil and dead skin cells. Acne can be caused by pimples, blackhead, whiteheads, redness or inflammation. It can appear on your face, chest area, back or any part of your body. It is a common condition especially during puberty but can also affect people of all ages.

CAUSES OF ACNE

There are causes of acne but I will only mention a few of them which are;

  1. OIL: I never knew that one of the courses of my acne was excess oil because I have a very oily skin. There is an oily substance called sebum that can clog pores on the skin.

  2. BACTERIA: There is this type of bacteria called P-ance which is naturally found on the skin and can contribute to acne. It is important we stay clean and observe good hygiene in order to avoid this bacteria.

  3. HORMONAL CHANGES: changes in hormones can also cause acne. Puberty, menstruation, pregnancy or menopause can lead to acne. For me, during menstruation as a teenager I used to experience a lot of acne on my skin such that I got used to it then, knowing that immediately my menstruation is coming I'll start having more acne than usual.

SOME ACNE REMEDIES

A lot of people have different remedies for acne while for others acne comes and goes naturally on its own. I am among the others that acne comes and goes naturally on its own. Meanwhile before I give up on acne treatment, I tried many remedies which helped in reducing the acne. I will list some remedies below but mine did not go until recently when I noticed that my acne are disappearing on its own.

  1. Aloe vera gel has some soothing properties that can help to reduce acne. All you need to do is to squeeze out the aloe vera gel and put in a container and then rub it on your face maybe twice in a day. After rubbing it, leave it for like 20 to 30 minutes and then you wash it off.

  2. Raw honey can be applied to the affected area to reduce acne. Honey has antibacterial properties that can help to fight acne that is caused by bacteria. Just apply your raw honey to the affected areas and leave it for 15 to 20 minutes and then wash it off.

  3. Sugar scrub is a mixture that can remove dead skin cells smoothly. You just need to mix Sugar with olive oil and lemon juice to create a scrub and then gently massage the scrub on the affected areas and leave it for 20 to 30 minutes before you wash it off.

The above mentioned remedies are the ones I have tried personally when I was battling acne. Apart from these remedies I've also discovered that staying hydrated and eating balanced diet can also help to reduce acne. It is important we consume food that are rich in nutrients like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, etc. We should also avoid food that are high in sugar and salt such as processed foods.
