Greetings! I hope everyone here is doing well and enjoying their life by the Grace of Allah Almighty. Today I'm here to take part in another contest organised by @khursheedanwar and the topic is "Processed Food And Health". Today we are eating almost 70% processed food and it is really affecting our health. Lets discuss it further in detail how it is affecting us.

Before I share processed foods list, lets see what actually it is. Processed food is food that is changed from its natural form or state by adding different ingredients like salt, fat, and sugar. By using different methods like canning, freezing and preserving to make it last longer is called processed food. Today we are living in the era where more than 70% of food are processed foods. Example of top ten processed foods are:
- Breakfast cereals
- Cheese
- Tinned vegetables
- Bread
- Snacks (Pies and Pasties, Sausage rolls, chips etc)
- Microwave meals (pizza, soup, fast food)
- Cakes and Biscuits
- Meat products
- Drinks (milk and soft drinks)
- Syrups and Jams
Please note not all processed foods are bad for you but some are good because they need to be processed if we want to make them like cheese, cakes, biscuits, jams etc. But it is almost important to understand eating too much processed food can be unhealthy because of having lots of sugar, salt, fats and some chemicals. Bad processed foods can lead to health problems like overweight, heart diseases, or high blood pressure.

Processed foods can affect our health in different ways. There are some good and some bad processed foods depending on the items added in them during their manufacturing. Some processed foods like canned vegetables or frozen fruits can be healthy as they have nutrients in them just need to store them for longer use. However there are many unhealthy processed foods because they contain high sugar, fats and salts. Eating them too much can lead to serious health problems.
I am against fast food that is in the category of Ultra-processed foods. As meat is deep fried and it can easily lead to heart attack or heart problems. Plus fast food can easily affect the blood pressure of a person. Thats why it is important to choose processed foods that are lower in added sugars, salts, fats and oils. We have alternative foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean proteins which is in general better for our health.

If I talk about myself then I usually avoid processed foods and fast food. We make 70% of the items at home because my mother is already a high-blood pressure patient and we avoid food from restaurants and stores. Yes I myself take some multi-vitamins capsules of 21st Century, maybe it is also included in processed food I dont really know.
In processed foods we use soft drinks, sometimes fast food, and kitchen items to make food taste better like Knorr chicken cube and other Masalas. Rest we use natural items that are not processed at all.

Assalam O Alaikum friend! I read your post and I found it very informative. You said right processed foods are really bad for you but some are good because they need to be processed if we want to make them like cheese, cakes, biscuits and jam. Best of luck

Walikum Asalam. Thank you for reading my post. Processed foods are not healthy but some of them are only healthy like tanned vegetables and fruits. We need to avoid such items and only consume them on weekly or monthly basis not regularly.

Exactly my friend, not all are bad when processed, very true that. Well, some need to go through that to be better consumed as you say for example cheese, crackers and jams; however, some corn and wheat flours also need to be processed to be better consumed or better handled.
