Greetings fellow steemians, hope we are all doing good. Firstly I want acknowledge @khursheedanwar for organizing a contest like this that talks about lung cancer. Lung cancer in recent times have become so rampant that almost most people suffer from it. So today it's my pleasure to write on it. So let's learn together.
Currently,lung cancer have confirmed to be a leading cause of cancer deaths worldwide in that it claims millions of lives annually. Though it's severe but it can be treated as early detection can significantly improve survival rates. But one thing is that, it's crucial to understand the symptoms, causes,and treatment options in other to take control of your health and well-being.
Symptoms of lung cancer
At it's early stage,it is skeptical as this makes it easy to detect. But as the disease progresses,the person may experience the following 👇
▶️ Persistent coughing
▶️ Chest pain and discomfort
▶️ fatigue or weakness
▶️ Loss of appetite or loss of weight
▶️ Recurring lung infections.
In case someone close to you is experiencing any of these symptoms mentioned above, please they should visit the doctor.
Causes of lung cancer (Risk Factors)
For now,the actual cause of lung cancer is still unknown,but certain risk factors may increase the chance of a person developing the disease. They may include 👇
▶️ Smoking:. This is one of the leading cause of cancer and it's responsible for 80% of deaths.
▶️ Random exposure: A radioactive gas that can accumulate in homes and buildings.
▶️ Asbestos exposure: A group of minerals used in construction and insulation.
▶️ Family history Having a family member with lung cancer may increase your risk.
▶️ Air pollution: Exposure to pollutants like particulate matter, nitrogen dioxide,and sulphur dioxide.
Treatment options
Talking about the treatment of lung cancer,it depends on the type, stage and overall health of the patient and below are the treatment options.
By surgery,you can remove the tumor and affected lung tissue. There's also what is known as chemotherapy, it involves using medications to kill the cancer cells. There's another option which is Radiation therapy and it involves using high energy beams to destroy cancer cells.
There's also the Targeted Therapy which talks about the use of medications to target specific cancer cells. Also there's the option of Immunotherapy which involves using medications to boost the immune systems ability to fight cancer.
Note: there's a strong advice that Once a person close to you is experiencing any symptoms or have concerns about lung cancer,consult your doctor as early detection and treatment can significant Improve survival rates. Don't just wait, take control of your health today. And also remember that lung cancer is a treatable disease as with the right treatment and support,one can overcome it,so stay vigilant,stay informed and prioritize your health.
