What do you know about hepatitis?
Hepatitis is an inflammation of the liver which is caused by a variety of infectious viruses and noninfectious agents leading to a range of health problems and some can be fatal.
The Hepatitis virus is primarily spread when an uninfected and unvaccinated person ingests food or water that Is contaminated with the feces of an infected person.
According to my research, there are five main types of hepatitis virus, they are, Hepatitis A, B, C, D, and E, they all cause liver disease, and they differ in important ways including modes of transmission, severity of the illness, geographical distribution, etc.
Among the types of Hepatitis, In particular, types B and C lead to chronic disease in people
Hepatitis A
Hepatitis A is the result of an infection with the hepatitis A virus (HAV). This type of hepatitis is known as an acute and short-term disease.
Hepatitis B
The hepatitis B virus causes hepatitis B (HBV), which is considered a chronic condition, it can be treatable but not curable.
Hepatitis C
Hepatitis C is caused by the hepatitis C virus (HCV). It is primarily transmitted through blood contact through the sharing of needles and it can also be transmitted through improper sterilization of medical equipment or accidental needlestick injuries etc.
Hepatitis D
Hepatitis D is caused by the hepatitis D virus (HDV). Just like other types of viral hepatitis, HDV cannot cause infection on its own, it only occurs in individuals who are already infected with the hepatitis B virus. Hepatitis D is also known as delta hepatitis.
Hepatitis E
Hepatitis E is caused by the hepatitis E virus (HEV) it is primarily transmitted through the consumption of contaminated water or food, especially in areas with inadequate sanitation and poor hygiene practices.
Have you seen a hepatitis patient ever in your surroundings?
Yes, I have seen my younger brother suffer and even die from Hepatitis B virus.
There are other people who I have watched suffer from the hepatitis virus. Some are very chronic which makes their stomach grow very big as a result of too much water in it while some are treatable.
The types of life-threatening hepatitis are B and C and can easily lead to loss of life.
Is hepatitis curable?
According to the experience I had with my late brother who was a hepatitis patient which prompted me to go on research about Hepatitis, I came to understand that hepatitis is treatable but for chronic Hepatitis B, there is no cure for it yet once it occurs.
In most cases of acute Hepatitis, it resolves over time and the treatment of the viruses only focuses on further to the liver it also reverses existing damage if possible, and system relief.
Thank you all for your usual support, love, and time that you have dedicated to reading my post. I love you all❤
I do invite @josepha @dave-hanny and @simonnwigwe
