This was one of the songs we used to sing back in the days in primary school that taught us how to practice personal hygiene. Have you ever wondered, what the phrase - "Your Health Is In Your Hands" is all about? This phrase simply describe our position in enhancing healthy lifestyle which definitely starts with our hands..

Hygiene is the general practice of keeping oneself and surrounding clean, in order to maintain good health and lifestyle. There are many ways where which we can practice hygiene such as washing of hands, brushing of teeth, regular bathing, wearing of neat clothes and general home sanitation. These practices are important because they help to reduce the spread of bacteria and germs that can cause and outbreak or sudden illness..
When it comes to personal health, good hygiene is a building block of a healthy life and lifestyle too. It can help to improve the physical and mental health, as well as boost self esteem....
Well it is no new news or surprise that hands hygiene (regular hand washing) is a big part of overall health and wellness. By now we all know that regular hand washing is important, but do you know how it does prevent illness and it's effectiveness?
Washing the hands with soap and water helps to break the outer layer of the germs, making it easier for them to all wash away. It is important to make use of 'running' water because it helps to carry the germs from your hands down to the drain and hopefully out of the environment. Washing of hands also removes germs and dirt hidden in our fingernails and skin when we use the toilet, play with pets, handle money and lots of things we do...
So by washing our hands regularly, we wash away germs and bacterias in the environment that can cause illnesses.. The Centers for Disease Control recommends washing your hands with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds or use an alcohol based hand sanitizer where water and soap are not available.
There are many diseases that can be prevented by good hand hygiene, but here are two common ones.
- Diarrheal-related diseases, such as E. coli, rotavirus and norovirus.
- Respiratory diseases/infection such as flu, common cold and pneumonia..
When we keep our surroundings clean and tidy, we are not only reducing the spread of germs, bacterias and diseases, but we're creating a more conducive and pleasant environment for everyone. A clean environment can boost our mood which can also make us feel relaxed, refreshed and energized.
Cleanliness contributes to overall health and well-being. This is because a good and clean environment can lead to a healthier and happier life and lifestyle. So, it is important to take our time to keep our homes, workplace, school, streets, place of worship and ourselves clean and free of germs to avoid illnesses
To sum it all up, cleanliness and good hygiene are crucial for a healthy life. By practicing simple hygiene methods and taking time to keep our surroundings clean we all can enjoy a healthier am happier life.
Don't forget to always wash your hands regularly with soap and running water for at least 20 seconds to be germ free and avoid illnesses...

Most of the times we are advised to eat with spoons because the day you will place your palm under the microscope to see the microorganisms that are there you will.mever eat with your hand again.
And for thise of us that eat with our hands, we should always do well to wash our hands properly to avoid consuming bacteria.
