What is anorexia?
Anorexia is a severe mental illness which is a pathological fear of becoming fat and, as a consequence, involving starvation and emaciation. Anorexia sufferers may interpret their thinking in an unusual way; in this case, they consider themselves overweight even if they are emaciated. And this condition can lead to many cord and psychological complications such as loss of muscles mass, damage of internal organs, depression, and social isolation. Therapists use individual, group, and family counseling, nutritional support, and regular check-ups with a doctor. Prompt action is considered to be one of the most effective strategies of combating anorexia.
Causes of anorexia?
Anorexia is an eating disorder with social psychological and biological factors. Some factors are; hereditary causes disorders such as obesity or family obesity history, psychological disorders like low self- esteem, obsessive compulsive disorder, social pressure and cultural influence on beauty, past experiences such as bad experience, family factors, and chemical imbalances in brain.
The thin standard by society, effective diets, appealing beautiful figure in the media and mass without exception, also contribute to it. Some people turn to extreme dieting in order to manage stress and deal with eating disorders; excessive thinking about food and efforts to maintain desired weight usually results. And in recovery from anorexia means early diagnosis and the completion of a range of multidisciplinary treatment activities including cognitive behavioral therapy, dietary counseling, and medical management.
Treatment of anorexia?
A patient with anorexia disorder is treated with medical, nutritional and therapy approaches. Medical therapy involves management of any physiological symptoms while eating therapy is a restoration from an extreme eating disorder. Psychological interventions like cognitive behavioral therapy and family therapy assist patients to tackle psychological issues in the long-run. They can also seek support from other clients at the support group as well as from membership in an outpatient program. In general, the complex connection between anorexia and physical health and well-being calls for the use of an integrated and holistic approach.
