What is alopecia?

Alopecia refers to the loss of hair or in other words, hair loss and it is very easy to contract alopecia because there are different forms of hair loss these include Alopecia areata , Alopecia totalis and alopecia is also caused by different factors and it includes the following; genetic factors, hormonal factors, autoimmune conditions, certain drugs or medications, extreme stress levels and it can also be due to other medical conditions.

Write about patterns of alopecia?

Alopecia means hair loss and it can occur on the scalp as well as the body and some of the known types of alopecia the include: Androgenetic Alopecia; Male/Female Pattern Baldness; this is perhaps the most common form of hair loss affecting both men and women and it is indicated by a specific pattern of hairline recession in the middle of the forehead in men and widening of the central hair partition in women.

In men, it typically commences with a receding hair line, and in the crown area, the hair becomes progressively thin and finally, baldness is realized while in women, it results in generalized thinning of hair.

Agaib is Alopecia Areata it is the type of alopecia baldness characterized by round patches on the head and other areas of the body Alopecia Areata is an auto immune disease in which the immune system diseases the hair follicles and leads to hair loss.

Thus It is usually caused by stress, disease, change in hormones or some types of medicine which increases hair loss.

And the final one is Traction Alopecia it is a type of hair loss that is characterized by tension in the hair follicles usually experienced when one wears tight hair extensions or any tightly fixed hair products and it normally evolves from hair line or part of the scalp which is usually pulled by the hair extension.

Write about treatment of alopecia?

Alopecia, or hair loss, can be a distressing condition for many peoples and the treatment of alopecia depends on the underlying cause of the hair loss and here are some common treatment options for different types of alopecia first is androgenetic Alopecia (Male or Female Pattern Baldness), Medications: The two other handy products that proved openly useful with the purpose of curing baldness and stimulating hair growth – Minoxidil and Finasteride branded as Rogue and Propecia.

Alopecia Areata:

Corticosteroids: Topical/subcutaneous corticosteroids, or even oral steroids can also be used to address cases of inflammation in a manner that supports re-growth as well. Topical Immunotherapy: This treatment involves applying of some chemicals such as DPCP or SADBE to the scalps with an aim of making the skin of the head develop allergy for the sake of growing hair.

Scarring Alopecia

Corticosteroids: There are oral corticosteroid tablets and solutions that can be used at the times when the hair is torn to help minimize swelling, as well as the likelihood for anymore hair shedding. Antimalarial Medications: However, patients who are anticipated to have an unhealthy immune reaction that leads to scarring alopecia can be managed using fingolimod with or without fumaric acid ester.

Therefore, normally, it is necessary to visit a dermatologist or a general practitioner to determine the cause of the hair loss and how to proceed accordingly.

Alopecia can be in both women and men, but it is more common to see it in men, because hair loss is common, but when it is in excess it is already alopecia.
