Introduction

It takes a kind heart to lend a helping hand. Doing such is a blessing in disguise because you may not know how much blessing that single act of kindness will bring your way.

what do you understand by "People living with Disabilities?"

I understand that people living with disabilities are people who are disabled in a particular way. That disability that they have is what makes them disabled. For example physically challenged on the leg, eyes, hand or any part of the body.

How can we make it easier for people with disabilities to access things in our community?

That's why I started my writing with kindness. To make it easier for the people with disabilities, we must be kind and generous to them. If we look beyond their inabilities in some respective areas, and look at their areas of great possibilities, it will be easier for them to do get anything knowing they have people who'll support them.

Moreover, there should be disabilities friendly facilities and environment for these people to be able to function properly in the society.

Give was we can include and give equal opportunities to people with disabilities?

They are as follows;

  1. Equal Education should be given to them

  2. Equal attention be given to them

  3. Equal support/encouragement should be given to them

  4. They should be socially accepted in our society

  5. They should be loved and cared for

How can we help people with disabilities without invading their privacy or making assumptions?

We can help them by respecting their views and showing them genuine love beyond their inabilities.

How can we be supportive friends and allies to people with disabilities and their families?

We can be supportive by encouraging the people with disabilities especially in the areas they're doing well, correct them in love and make them feel important and loved.

There's a student in my school who is living with disability. I was his class teacher the previous year. He is exceptionally brilliant but he can't see well.

It could have been very difficult for him to survive in the school where he is the only student with disability. But the school, and his classmate, then myself made it easier for him. He is being accepted by the school, he is loved and welcomed. The teachers and the students see him beyond his disability but encourage his ability which has given him the ground to thrive.

So I believe if every person living with disability is given such an open arm and
warmth environment he/she will open up and feel loved too.

Conclusion

The people living with disabilities are humans, we have them in our societies. Most of the are reservoirs of great knowledge but they live with a bit of disability. They should be loved and welcomed in our societies, we should love and encourage them whenever we across them or if we have any in our families.

Be that shoulder, they can lie on!
