Hello Everyone !

I hope you're doing well. Today, I'm taking part in the contest "Let's Talk About Allergies" organized by @helengutier2 .In this post, I'll be sharing my own experience with allergies and how I manage them in my daily life.

Dealing with allergies can be hard sometimes, but I’ve learned some ways to handle it. I’ll talk about what causes my allergies, the symptoms I face, and how I avoid them.

Are you allergic to any substance? Tell us which one?

Yes, I do have allergies to certain substances. One of the main things that triggers my allergies is dust. Whenever I see dust around or if someone is sweeping or cleaning, I start sneezing. This happens especially when there is dust floating in the air, and it affects me immediately.

To avoid this, I try to stay away from dusty areas as much as possible. Even at home, I avoid sweeping and cleaning areas with a lot of dust. If I do have to sweep, even a little bit of dust will trigger my allergy, causing me to sneeze non-stop for quite some time. It also leads to a runny nose.

When I go outside, whether in a car or on a motorcycle, the dust and dirt flying from the roadside also irritate me, causing sneezing fits. Along with dust, I am also allergic to strong smells, especially cigarette smoke, which irritates me a lot.

If I am near someone smoking or encounter any harsh smells like strong perfumes or the smell of burnt spices while cooking, I feel the same allergic reactions. I also get these symptoms if something strong like spices is cooking, and the smell becomes intense.

I try to avoid such situations, especially when cooking, by keeping my distance from spices, as they can cause me to start sneezing immediately.

These allergies make it quite difficult for me sometimes, but I do my best to avoid triggers and take care of my health.

🤧 How did you realize that you are allergic to that substance? What were the reactions or symptoms that you had?

I realized I was allergic to dust when I noticed that every time I came near dust and and in kitchen, I would start sneezing uncontrollably.

Whether I was cleaning the house, sweeping the floor, or dusting furniture, the symptoms would immediately kick in, and my health would deteriorate.

I would often catch a cold, and during the winter months, it felt like I had a constant flu. This went on for some time until my family decided to take me to the doctor for a check-up.

When we visited the doctor, he confirmed that the issue was mainly due to allergies. He explained that while there is no permanent cure for allergies, it can be managed with regular medication.

Nasal Spray I use , picture is taken by me

The doctor gave me an injection at that time and also prescribed some medicine, advising me to take the medication regularly and get an injection every six months. For a while, I followed this routine and noticed some improvement.

When we visited the doctor again, he recommended a nasal spray, which I now use, especially during the colder months when my symptoms worsen.

If I catch a cold, it often leads to headaches as well, which disrupts my daily life. This allergy has been challenging, but I try to manage it as best as I can with the treatment.

🤧 How do you control an allergic attack?

As soon as I experience an allergy attack, my first priority is to distance myself from whatever is causing the reaction. If I can’t move away from the trigger, I try to remove the source from my surroundings.

Once the symptoms begin, like sneezing or headaches due to dust, I immediately go to the sink to wash my face and freshen up. This helps me feel a bit better.

After that, I use the nasal spray that my doctor recommended, which helps to clear my nasal passages and ease the discomfort. This spray provides relief, and I start to feel more relaxed. However, if I don’t have the spray with me, or if I forget to carry it, my options are limited.

In such cases, I cover my nose with a cloth or my hand to avoid inhaling any more irritants like strong smells or dust. This prevents the allergy from worsening.

Whenever I go to college or leave the house, I always carry a face mask. Since there is a lot of dust and garbage on the streets in Pakistan, it’s easy for dirt and allergens to get into the air.

If I see someone smoking nearby, I also wear my mask, as cigarette smoke triggers my allergies. Wearing the mask helps me protect myself from all these allergens and avoid further allergic reactions.

🤧 What do you commonly do to avoid coming into contact with that substance that causes your allergy?

Since my main allergy is caused by dust, I always try to avoid coming into contact with it. For instance, I don't sweep the floors at home to avoid stirring up dust. If I sense there is dust in certain areas, I make sure to avoid those places and not touch anything that might trigger my allergy. While I do the dusting at home, I am extremely cautious to ensure it doesn’t aggravate my allergy.

Whenever I leave the house, I always wear a face mask to protect myself from dust. I also carry the nasal spray that my doctor recommended, so if I feel an allergic reaction coming on, I can use it immediately to control the symptoms.

When there's a storm or dust in the air, especially before it rains, I avoid going outside or to the rooftop. If I have to go out, I make sure to cover my face properly to protect myself from the dust.

I’m sensitive perfume smells, so I always opt for light fragrances with soft scents. I use very little perfume to prevent the smell from becoming overwhelming, not just for me but for others as well. If someone is smoking around me and I can't ask them to stop, I move away from that place to avoid the cigarette smoke.

That's it from today's blog I hope you will like it. With best wishes ❤️. Now I like to invite @rumanaafroz, @abdul-rakib and @neelofar to participate in this amazing contest.

First of all, I would like to thank you very much for inviting me to this competition.
I also have to face the same problem due to allergies. The strong smell of dust and spices gives me irritating pain like sneezing. But even if it is hard, housewives have to do it.
Heart full of love for you.
