Hello my fellow steemians I want to again participate in this community contests which talks about wound treatment. Treating of wound is very important in the life of human. If a wound is without treatment, it can cause infection that is why to treat wound is very important

What's the first step to prevent infection when treating a wound?

The first step to take in order to prevent infection to get into your wound when treating it is to make sure you clean and irrigate the wound with a lot of clean water and a little soap. Make sure you remove all dirt, bacteria or debris which may be present. The running water that is being Used in the wound should be of low pressure in order to help in the reduction of the risk of infection. This particular step is important in preventing the growth of any kind of deadly bacteria and ensuring a safe environment for healing. When the cleaning aspect is finished, you pat the injury area and then dry it with a clean towel and also apply antiseptic ointment and also do the dressing as it is needed. A proper caring of wound help in preventing the assess of infection and also help the heeling process.

How do you clean a wound properly before applying medication or a bandage?

In order to clean a wound properly, you begin by rinsing it with a cool or lukewarm water in order to remove bacteria and debris. You make Use of a little soap and a clean cloth or a gauze and gently scrub the wound begining from the center part outward. Make sure you avoid the use strong soap, iodine, or hydrogen peroxide as these items can damage some tissues and slow healing of the wound. Make sure you rinse off the soap with a well cleaned water, and make sure you pat the area and dry with a clean towel. Use sterile water or saline solution in order to rinse the wound if it is a deep cut or if it has an exposed tissue. Avoid hard scrub or the use cotton swabs, because this can push bacteria more inside the wound. Then you finally dry the wound and the wound surrounding area with a clean dry towel before the application of of the medication or the bandage. A proper caring and cleaning of wound prompt healing and also reduce the risk of infection and also prepare the wound for further treatment.

Why is it important to keep a wound moist during the early stages of healing?

If you keep a wound moist during the early stage of healing promote faster recovery, improving tissues and reduce scarring in the body. Moisturizing wound helps to: Make the make tissues soft, it promote the removal of dead tissues, it helps in supporting cell migration and proliferation, and also help in the reduction of bacterial growth. This creates a good environment for the healing of wound.

What are the signs of a possible infection in a wound, and what should you do if you suspect one?

Some Signs of a possible infection in a wound are:

  • the wound will be redden, it will be swollen etc
  • the pain in the wound will be increased
  • there will be a discharge of Pus
  • there will be a bad odour which will be smelt
  • there will be felt of Fever or chills

If you suspect any form of infection from an injury:

  • make sure you Seek a medical attention immediately
  • make sure the wound is Kept clean and dry
  • Apply an antibiotic ointment and make sure you it cover with a bandage
  • support the affected area
  • look out for bad symptoms

How can you tell if a wound can be treated at home or if it needs medical attention?

Here are some condition to show if your wound can be treated at home or if it need a medical attention

Treat at home:

  • if 5he wound is Small in size i.e less than 1/4 inch deep and 1/2 inch long
  • if it a Minor cuts or scrapes
  • if there is no signs of infection
  • if there is no bone, tendon or nerve that is being exposed

Seek medical attention:

  • if the wound is of large size i.e deeper or longer than 1/4 inch
  • if the wound is Deep i.e if it is passed through multiple skin layers.
  • if the wound is either on the face or onthe feet or on the hand.
  • if there is any sign of infection as was mentioned above.
  • if there is an exposure of bone
  • if there is any dangerous object in the wound
  • if there is difficulty in the movement of the injured area.
  • if the wound won't stop bleeding within 10-15 minute
