"Why is Blood considered to be part of our Health?"
Hi everyone, First of all, thank you to the Healthy Steem Community for conducting a challenge like this, and I am really glad to participate in it. I wish to say greetings to everyone and send my best wishes.
What is blood? |
---|
Blood, Miracle elixir that flows in the veins, sustaining all living tissues with the essential substance of life. Its composition of cells, plasma, and platelets makes it quite complicated but still essential for our body’s normal functions.
Why do we need blood? |
---|
The answer lies in its multiple roles form the basis. The blood provides oxygen to each and every cell of the body by transporting oxygen from the lung. The bloodstreams are also known as the highways on blood that takes it up the nutrients absorbed from the food to feed the cells. But that’s not all. The blood also takes the wastes away from the cell to the kidney as well the lung thus our body will be kept cleanse and healthy.
Mention the different functions of the blood? |
---|
In addition, blood is very important for our immune system. One of the major components of blood, known as white blood cells, is the body’s main weapon against harmful microorganisms associated with diseases. They find, pinpoint, and annihilate foreign invaders who protect us from various contagions.
More importantly, blood plays an important role for balances of body temperature. It disperses heat in the body ensuring an average environmental condition within the body. In addition, blood participates in healing of wounds. Another component of blood is the platelets which start clotting to avoid continuous bleeding at different points and various proteins of plasma cooperate to mend the harm.
Blood volume is dependent on age, size, sex, and other factors in the human body. However, the actual blood volume may differ depending on additional factors like place of residence in relation to sea level or altitude effects. For example, those people who live at higher altitudes possess more blood because of less oxygen supply in the air. The main function of the heart is to circulate blood all over the body providing the tissues with oxygen and nutrition. The heart itself does not clean the blood but takes part in ensuring that the cleaned blood flows around in the body. Blood purification is mainly carried out by the liver and the kidneys. Liver also eliminates several by-products of metabolism while producing proteins, among others. Waste products are filtered out in the kidneys and changed to urine. However, A human kidney filter or purify out about 200 liters of blood daily, which is equivalent to at least 50 gallons per day. In other words, every drop of blood in your body system passes through the kidneys up to 40 times daily.
Key points to remember:
- The main type of connective tissue is blood which comprises plasma, blood cells, and platelets.
- It flows in our blood system transporting oxygen and necessary substances to different organs and cells.
- Overall body weight's 8% is blood.
- In an average adult there is approximately 5 – 6 liters of blood.
- There are four blood types: Positives of "A, B, AB and O" and its negatives.
- Blood is equally vital; white blood cells are part of the immune system used to protect the body against disease.
- The blood contributes to body temperature, while it also assists in the recovery process following injuries.
What kind of food should we eat to get a healthy blood? |
---|
Therefore, blood is quite crucial, and hence should be kept healthy. And that means what types and foods, should we eat for a healthier blood. Balanced diet enriched with iron, vitamins and minerals comes first. Red blood cells can be stimulated by iron-based diets that include spinach, lentils, and lean meat. Iron absorption is also increased by foods with high amounts of vitamin C like oranges and strawberries. Folate, or B-complex vitamins particularly food items such as beans, beetroot, carrots, green peas and leaves plays an important role in the production of red blood cells. Consuming plenty of foods that are loaded with vitamin B12 may include various types of fish, poultry and dairy products as well.

Blood is a vitally important fluid for the body. It is thicker than water, and feels a bit sticky. The temperature of blood in the body is 38°C (100.4°F), which is about one degree higher than body temperature. How much blood you have depends mostly on your size and weight. A man who weighs about 70 kg (about 154 pounds) has about 5 to 6 liters of blood in his body. Blood has three important functions:
