Greetings everyone,
I hope you are all well. Today I am participating in the "What is the Dementia" contest organized by @khursheedanwar. Let's see what dementia is, its disorders and treatments.
What is the Dementia
Dementia is a disease that affects the brain and impairs the cognitive function of a person. There are changes in memory, thinking, thinking ability and behavioral activities. A person suffering from dementia has difficulty managing their daily life activities and other things. People affected by this disease are unable to control their emotions.
In addition, they may have difficulty speaking, memory and awareness. In fact, dementia is a disease that greatly affects a person's personality. All the actions of our body are controlled by the brain. So such a brain-related disease directly affects its functioning.
This disease can usually be described as a disease that occurs in older people. But in some cases, it can also affect people who are children or young. However, if we are close to someone who is suffering from this disease, we should take care of them with great love and care.
Types of Dementia
• Alzheimer's disease
• Lewy body dementia
• Vascular dementia
• Frontotemporal dementia
Causes of Dementia
• The main cause of dementia is thought to be an imbalance or loss of brain cells. Or it may be due to the formation of abnormal protein clumps in the brain.
• Parkinson's disease, which occurs in old age, is another cause of dementia.
• This is also due to the destruction of specific cells that affect brain function due to foreign substances entering the brain.
• Rare genetic conditions can also cause dementia.
• Defects in the blood supply and circulation system to the brain, i.e. blockage of blood vessels, prevent the brain from receiving the necessary nutrition and energy.
Symptoms of Dementia
• The main symptoms of this disease are memory loss, forgetting past events, poor judgment, and confusion.
• Some difficulties in speaking. That is, forgetting words, slurring words, and not being able to understand what others say and express thoughts.
• Difficulty in reading and writing.
• Habit of constantly wandering
•Taking longer than usual to complete daily tasks.
• Often acting impulsively for no reason.
Treatments for Dementia
There is no definitive medications to completely heal for dementia. But through medication and treatment, the disease can be managed, symptoms can be controlled, the quality of life of the patient can be improved, and the progression of the disease can be slowed down.
To get treatment for this, one should go to a psychiatrist and seek advice. There, the family members should take care of the patient as per the advice given by him. The patient should be given the necessary food, drinks and medicine at the right time.
A conducive environment should be created in the home and around the patient to improve the patient's mental well-being.
One should always be concerned about the patient and work to keep him happy.
Finally I would like to invite my some of friends @jyoti-thelight, @sampabiswas and @enamul17 to participate this contest.
