Greetings to all members of this community, I will be following the contest topic one after the other, please read through
Let's look at the definition of processed food so that we can list accurately the processed food following the definition, processed foods are foods whose natural taste, flavour and nutrient content have been altered by baking, frying, packaging, cooking canning etc, if this is the case almost 99% of the food we eat are processed, processed food is the best food that should be taken. For this understanding of the basic concept, I will start with the first item.
Bread |
---|
Bread: One thing I know about bread is that it is prepared using the baking process, this baking process requires a lot of heat, and the amount of yeast put into the preparation is higher than in doughnuts.
Sachet milk: The direct parent for the production of milk is a natural source processed from the natural one from cows. I learnt in biology that pasteurization begins with a temperature of 75° C for 15-20 minutes.
Biscuits |
---|
Biscuits: They are of different types and tastes. I think these are baked the same way as bread, so much yeast is required to make it.
Maggi cube: I use this very often in the preparation of soup, It tastes like crayfish and I heard from some local cooks that it is made from crayfish and salt.
Indomie |
---|
Indomie noodles: Many say it is processed cassava but I think it contains some amount of starch what could make it be in such a curly form is what I don't know, while eating it, it tastes like yam
Peanut |
---|
Peanut: Peanuts are one snack I loved most in my childhood days, I can remember when I worshipped my sister like a goddess for her to give me her peanuts, the major ingredients used in its preparation are flour and groundnut, this groundnut is not grounded but a pinch of the floor is wrapped around it before frying to give a peanut.
Hollandia yoghurt |
Hollandia yoghurt: Hollandia is a brand name but the main thing we should focus on here is the general name yoghurt, yoghurt is made differently based on the manufacturer's preference and recipe, so I can't ascertain how this tastes for your understanding of the producing process but it is sweet to take much like milk.
Butter |
---|
Butter: As a chemist, I have been told that butter can be produced from fat and oil, the process is not that complete but to make it good for consumption it has to be produced in a standard lab.
Groundnut |
---|
Groundnut is dry fried i.e. not with oil, it can be baked also.
Sweets |
---|
Sweets etc.
In some ways processed may be good and In some other ways they may not be good, because most processed foods are preservatives which are not harmful to the body but if we keep accumulating them, they may have some side effects after many years, processed foods are healthy because they undergo some analytical food processing techniques done by food scientist and it is very health-wise. As a student, I can't help but purchase some processed food each time hunger is pressing.
I wish to see my friends @joojoo78 @bessie2023 @roselove participate in this contest, thanks @khursheedanwar for organising this contest

Processed food from it's initial are foods which are processed industrially denying it of it's basic nutrients. It is important to strike a balance between processed and unprocessed food. By this, the individual involved wouldn't be at the mercy of diseases or implications. Good luck on your entry.
