The concept above is indeed a contradictory one of which I am happy to write about. Before we go any further, let’s take a look at what homeopathy and conventional medicine is all about.
WHAT IS HOMEOPATHY
Homeopathy is a type of alternative medicine which is based on several principles. One principle is that “like cures like”. It is based on the belief that a substance that may likely cause some certain symptoms of an ailment can also be used to cure or treat someone with the same ailment. It is also based on the principle that the more diluted a substances is, the greater its effectiveness to treat and cure certain illnesses.
According to Oxford Languages
It is a form of complementary medicine in which ailments are treated by minute doses of natural substance that in larger amounts would produce symptoms of the ailment.
Some common illnesses and conditions that require people to seek a homeopathic practitioner includes; asthma, arthritis, high blood pressure, ear infection, allergies, mental conditions like depression.

WHAT IS CONVENTIONAL MEDICINE
This is the form of medicine which is widely used and accepted by most health professional and practitioners around the world. It is also known as modern medicine or western medicine. It makes use of scientific findings, research, and studies to analyze, monitor, diagnose and treat certain illnesses and conditions. Conventional medicine can be considered as the standard treatments of the general health care profession.
Some conventional medical treatment include;
- Surgical procedure
- Prescription medication and OTC
- X-rays and imaging
- Radiotherapy
- Chemotherapy
- Tests such as blood test, urine tests etc.
DOES HOMEOPATHY WORK AS WELL AS REGULAR MEDICINE? HAVE THEY SAME RULES AND CHECKS
Currently, there is no scientific evidence to support the effectiveness of homeopathy in comparison to conventional medicine. Each forms of medicines has their individual principle and system of operation. They definitely do not have the same rules and checks. Infect, some of the significant difference between the two includes;
- While conventional medicine treatments requires, diagnosis, prescription medication and in extreme cases surgery. Homeopathy on the other hand focuses on dilution and succession with the central belief that the more diluted the remedy is the more effective and strong it is in curing such illness.
- While conventional medicine treats an individual according to the disease he/she is suffering from with the aim of controlling, eliminating or repressing symptoms, homeopathy treatments tries to identify and cure other health related issue regarding such patient and as thus treats the individual as a wholes while aimed at eliminating the root cause of the disease.
SHOULD THE GOVERNMENT SPEND MORE MONEY ON HOMEOPATHY JUST LIKE THEY DO ON REGULAR MEDICINE?
If there is any chance that there could be another system of medicinal treatment yet unexplored that have the possibility of decreasing the high mortality rate of people in a country, curing the all too many chronic diseases that tends to take the lives of individuals and so many more. I think the government should take a look into it. A project of that cause is worth spending money on. For many years more money have been spent on conventional medicine and unfortunately it has gotten us very little. So I believe if there is the slightest of chance that homeopathy treatment could go a long way in the health sector then I think the government should take a shot at it.
ARE HOMEOPATHIC PRACTITIONERS AS QUALIFIED AS REGULAR DOCTORS
Homeopathic practitioners are qualified in the field by which they practice. The same as regular doctors are also qualified in their field or area of specialization. However, in the eyes of society, the idea of homeopathy has not been readily accepted generally. Not to talk less of their practitioners. But I personally think that homeopathic practitioners are as qualified as regular doctors in their various field of specialization.
SHOULD PEOPLE CHOSE HOMEOPATHY INSTEAD OF REGULAR MEDICINE IF THEY WANT?
I believe this is a matter of individual’s preference. Whichever, an individual’s feel is more effective, convenient and safe among the different types or forms of medicine, he/she should go for.
CONCLUSION
Conventional medicine indeed has its draw backs. While homeopathy may be regarded cheap and less expensive than conventional medicine. It also has its good side and bad side. I believe integrating this two potentially powerful health care treatments can help an individual achieve maximum health benefits. An individual can decide to work with a doctor and a homeopathic practitioner to create an effective treatment plan that will benefit such person’s health
