The Liver is the largest organ in the human body, it has a reddish brown color and it's located at the Upper right side of the abdomen beneath the Diaphragm. It is charged with so many unique functions in the body which includes the following Metabolism, Detoxification, synthesis of bile, and regulation of the body function.
What do you understand by healthy liver? |

A healthy Liver is a Liver that can carry out its roles efficiently without problems or difficulty. A healthy Liver should be able to carry out the following functions.
- Metabolism
It should be able to help the body to assimilate and break down food, and convert them to nutrients needed by the body.
- Detoxification
It should also readily filter harmful substance such as toxic drugs and alcohol from the body and prevent them from causing damage to the body.
- Bile production
It should also produce bile readily in the body, which helps in the digestion and assimilation of fat.
- Regulation of Bodily Functions
It should also help to regulate essential bodily functions like Sugar level, Hormone production and Immune Function.

To have a healthy and functioning Liver, you must observe the following.
- Stay hydrated
Do not stress your Liver, drink water often. It will make it much easier for the Liver to detoxify and flush out Toxin.
- Eat healthy
Incorporate more of Vegetables, lean proteins, grains and Fruits in your meal to help keep the Liver fit.
- Reduce Alcohol Intake
Too much intake of alcohol can cause damage to the Liver.
- Routine medical checkups
Always undergo medical checkups which will assist to detect any problem on time.
- Avoid Toxic Substance
Avoid taking drugs at any slightest opportunity, also avoid staying in a polluted environment.
- Regular exercise
Exercise often inorder to keep your weight in check and also to improve the Liver function.

- Jaundice
This is yellowing of the eyes and skin which occurs when Bilirubin a yellow pigment produced from the breakdown of red blood cells piles up in the blood.
- Liver Cirrhosis
This is the Scarring of the Liver tissue which leads to Swelling and bleeding of the Liver.
- Ascites
This is a symptom of Liver damage, it occurs when plenty fluid accumulate in the abdomen leading to bloating.
- Fatigue
When a Liver is damaged, it will be difficult for it to synthesis nutrients needed in the body for energy, thereby leading to tiredness.
