- These make red blood cell for body.
Kidneys can produce vitamin D and this vitamin helps to body for absorb calcium from the diet. Vitamin D is very important for making bones strong. - It regulating pH levels by balancing levels of acids and bases in the blood.
✏️Write about structure and functions of kidney |
---|
kidneys are important organs. It is not only for important functions but also for its intricate structure. This structure allows it to perform different tasks with efficiently. Kidneys are fist sized and bean-shaped. Each kidney has about 150 grams weight.
Structure of the Kidney.
Outer Cortex
Cortex is the outer layer of the kidney. Cortex contains many filtering units we call it nephrons. The cortex works like protective layer. This is the house of blood vessels.
Inner Medulla
Medulla lies beneath the cortex and organized into pyramid structures. Each of them renal pyramids is a network of tiny tubules that filter tjr waste.
Renal Pelvis
It is a funnel-shaped cavity in the center of the kidney where urine collects before passing into the ureter. The renal pelvis also helps transport waste products to the bladder for excretion.
Nephrons*
There are about million of nephron in each kidney. Each nephron has a tiny cluster of blood vessels (glomerulus) and a tubule. They filter the blood.
Functions of the Kidneys are:
- Most important function of kidneys is blood filtration and waste excretion.
- The second important function of kidneys is balancing fluid levels.
- Kidneys regulating electrolytes like sodium, potassium and calcium.
- These control blood pressure level by
regulating fluid and sodium levels. - Erythropoietin production is another function that is perform by kidneys.
- Acid and base balance is maintain by kidneys.
