Hello healthy steemians
Am here to participate in the second week of this current Steemit Engagement Challenge. Sugar is a very sweet thing that gives benefits to the body and also cause harm to it. Most people tend to take excess sugar all the time due to ignorance or addiction. Therefore it is very good that we all try to get informed about the advantages and disadvantages of intake of sugar. Stay tuned friends as I throw more light in this contest theme. I appreciate @hive-168205 for creating this contest.
Do you know how much sugar you consume per day?
Sugar is what we take every day because it's benefits is more than it's damage. We can't stay a day without taking sugar because we need it for energy to carry out out daily activities.
I can't really tell the amount of sugar I take per day but based on the way I eat, am sure is 15% because most times I do eat two times a day which I know is not very good but am adjusting to something that's why I do so. My intake of sugar per day is very low because of the fact that I eat two times a day.
Do you have a family member who has problems with diabetes?
Yes I did have one which is my maternal Aunty. Few months ago I heard that my Aunty was being diagnosed of having diabetes and was so surprised as well as my parents. She were wondering how come it happened because she doesn't take excess sugar.
The fact is the truth as someone can't just get diabetes without not having excess intake of sugar. The thing is that she might have been taking excess sugar unknowingly and not too obvious to the extent that she would have gone for check up on time.
We further heard that the doctor said that is not a very serious case as the only remedy is quite painful but ok as long as she remains alive. The doctor revealed that her bigger toe in her left feet should be cut off and replaced with an artificial one. I don't really know why it has to be cut off but I think it was damage as a result of the excess sugar and it needs to be cut off so that something negative in it won't spread to other parts of the body. Am glad she's ok now and monitoring her sugar level more often.
Have you had a problem with sugar?
I haven't had any problem with sugar and I think the main reason is the fact that I still live with my parents and they are the one who cook nutritious and stable meal for I and my siblings and they know what's best for us.
My mum is 75% medical inclined as she studied microbiology in school, am not sure any of my siblings and I will get diabetes because we are very humble by not eating unnecessary things or snacks not given to us by our parents and we are still young because mature people most especially people above 45 do suffer from this.
What do you think about sugar as the worst enemy?
To me I will say that sugar is not very dangerous because it has it's own benefits and we do need it to survive. Where sugar tend to look like our worst enemy is when we decide to be stubborn by becoming it's best friend. Am sure you guys know the saying that says your best friend is your worst enemy. Once we avoid being the best friend of sugar, we will be able to not mercy it by taking it all the time. I thank you all for reading my post and I hope you keep on taking snacks that doesn't contain much sugar and do well to take herbs as well. Bye.
Hi @saintkelvin17
Well said! yeah, that's the reason most of the time. If we are too much addicted then it's going to be a problem for us. As you said if we are going to stay within the limits then it won't be an issue. Having excess sugar and a lack of sugar both have their own consequences.
Thanks for sharing a great post!
Have a good day! :)

I agree with you. I don't think sugar is the problem. The problem is us.
We need to be "sugar wise" and control how much sugar we take in.
Luckily, I would rather have a salty snack than a sweet snack. But then again, too much salt is also not good for us.
Can we ever win?
Good luck with the contest, and thank you for the invitation!

Sugar wise 😂😂😂
Ma you have started again, how come that got into your mind?
Anyway is true, is up to us to be wise and very careful so that we don't get diabetes, it was through other steemians entries I read (red) that made me knew that diabetes is very dangerous.

It is true that sugar only becomes harmful when our system is compromised, with a healthy system, consumption of sugar will only give us more energy.
