The mouth and teeth are not only a symbol of our beauty, it is also part of a very important system, which is called the stomatognathic system. This system performs many fundamental functions in our daily life.
What is the function of the stomatognathic system?
The stomatognathic system is an integrated system of the mouth, teeth and tongue, related muscles and nerves. I will discuss its functions in my blog today:
Swallowing: Sending the food we eat through the throat to the stomach.
Speaking: We use the mouth and tongue together to produce sound and communicate when we speak.
Breathing: We usually breathe through our nose, but we also breathe through our mouth.
Expression: We use the muscles of the mouth to express various emotions.
Chewing: Its function is to break the food we eat into small pieces to facilitate the digestion process.
These systems perform very important functions in our daily lives, which we often neglect.
My opinion about the stomatognathic system:
I had no prior knowledge about this system, but I was very surprised after learning about it. It is a very important part of our body that is very important for our survival. Maintaining the proper functioning of this system is very important for our health.
Teeth: An important part of the stomatognathic system is the teeth. An adult's mouth usually has 32 teeth, which are usually divided into four parts.
- Incisors

- Small chewing teeth
- Large chewing teeth
The main function of teeth:
Chewing the foods we eat and facilitating the digestive process. Its function is to help us speak and produce sounds. Maintaining the structure and expression of our mouth.
Parts of the teeth:
Enamel: Which is the hard outer layer of the teeth.
Dentin: Which is the layer below the enamel.
Cementum: The outer layer of the tooth root.
Periodontal ligament: Which connects the tooth to the bone.
Pulp: This is the soft part inside the tooth where the nerves and blood vessels are located.
Dental care: It is a very important part of our stomatognathic system and it is very important for us to take care of it. Things to do to properly preserve teeth:
Brush regularly: You should brush twice a day, especially in the morning and at night.
Use floss: After brushing your teeth, clean the food particles between your teeth thoroughly.
Use mouthwash regularly: It is very important to use mouthwash to destroy bacteria in the mouth and teeth.
Eat less sweet foods: Sweet foods damage our teeth, so we should avoid sweet foods.
See a dentist regularly: Even if there are no problems with your teeth, you should go to the doctor for a checkup at least twice a year.
Avoid smoking: Smoking is very harmful to teeth, smoking changes the color of the gums and causes diseases in the gums.
I try to maintain proper eating habits without regular dental care. We all should maintain proper eating habits and follow the advice of the dentist. If any dental problem occurs, go to the doctor immediately and get treatment before any complications arise. The stomatognathic system is a very important part of our body. Teeth are a very important part of this system and it is our responsibility to take care of them.
