Tuberculosis

Tuberculosis is one of the disease that nowadays we do not consider serious like it was in the past. When we look back into history we can find the information that even when the Egyptian mummies was found there was an area in spine discovered that was affected by Tuberculosis bacteria.

We also see cases in old Greece and Italy and that time people who had tuberculosis were little chances to survive. The doctors that time did not visit the patient in late stage of TB.

Also from ancient time TB was cold “white plague” because patients were pale in late stage.

With the time and development of science in 1882 Mycobacterium tuberculosis was discovered by scientist Robert Koch, therefore, the bacteria is often called Koch’s bacillus.

The number of people affected by TB is reduced in developed countries and still there are many people affected in countries with low medical supply and economy. It is approximately 10,6 Mio people worldwide are affected with TB.

When we talk about Tuberculosis then often we mean TB of Lungs which is very common and one of the contagious disease that is often spreads through cough and sneeze, that there are following organs that also could be affected:

  • bones
  • bowel
  • kidneys
  • brain
  • lymph nodes
  • skin

Often people maybe just a carrier of bacteria and have no symptoms, so long your immune system is strong enough people feel well. Once immune system is week then the bacteria that was “sleeping” for years may manifest and cause symptoms.

Treatment understandably antibiotics, usually there are two or three of them given the same time and they should be given for prolong time. It is often heavy treatment and has many side effects. Still if people manage to get over they could be successfully healed.

It is important to look after yourself, do not ignore long cough, see the doctor but also make sure that you keep yourself fit and have healthy diet.

I hope you have found interesting information for you and I would like to invite for this contest following users @vickyson, @lusciouslucy, @mole1
