Can you tell me about your first visit to the dentist? How old were you?

When I try to remember my first visit of Dentist then it was when I was in nursery, that was the time when we children all had regular check up for any decay. So my first real treatment was then when I was about 6 years old. It was not painful and very quick. I remember they told me not to eat for two hours, but that time I was not sure what means hour and it was time for lunch and it was my favourite lunch served. That is why I did not think about my tooth and went to lunch, we had hot soup, once I had that in my mouth I felt the chemical taste of the filling and that was horrible. I immediately spit it out and stopped eating. Since hten I know always do what the doctor or dentist says.

Do you think that dental consultations for children should be carried out by specialists who have the knowledge and training to treat the conditions of children and adolescents?

Yes, I am completely sure that such treatment of children should be done by the specialist who have had experience in treating children. Children are different than adults and there should be different approach. Children should gain trust of children and also be able to be honest but gentle and try not to trick out the children. While being specialised the paediatric dentists are best specialist in both technically treatment and also also to be a friend of that little children.

Would you take your child or your younger brother to a pediatric dentist appointment?

Yes, definitely, I would be bringing my child to specialist in paediatric dentistry. For children it is important not to be frightened to do for dental treatment and if a child gets such trauma in early ages that can later on leave a dramatic impact.

Nowadays, patient cooperation and the help of parents are also taken into account. Do you think that this union of parents and professionals makes the consultation more pleasant?

The parents and paediatric specialists should work together if they want to make the dental treatment of their children comfortable, less stressful and to feel secure and safe in that place. The whole environment is horrible, the equipments, they are loud and sharp, the dentists are adults and also they are strangers that is why it is always scary for children to have such trip to dentists or doctor.

Hola apreciada amiga.

Hi, yes you are right, all dental treatment stuff have special taste and smell. I think as a child when someone experienced that then will not forget for a long time :)
