Night Streets of Bangkok - Wandering Endless Cityscapes
Hey there travel friends,
This interminable visa delay odyssey in Bangkok feels never-ending. Each time resolution seems near, it's another 4 days of wait and paperwork. To maintain optimism and soak up local experiences, I've taken to long therapeutic wanders with camera in hand. Streets come alive differently after dark and at first light.
Just last night I set off on foot for hours, notching over 10km ambling vacant side streets to busy main drags. The chaotic traffic takes on a whole distinct mood under sodium vapor lamps. Strings of carnival lights dance between dish antennas, while vendors haul carts laden with sugar cane juice and crispy whole fish. I even turned one corner to find monks FaceTiming on their phones - the juxtaposition made me smile.
I do feel for my sandals though - this unplanned extended layover has them nearly worn through! But a small price to pay for long exposure therapy to process this on-hold chapter. Hopefully the visas get sorted shortly, but for now I have these images reminding me of Bangkok's gifts, even amidst bureaucratic struggles. Please enjoy this glimpse into the vibrant spaces between that daylight tourists rarely glimpse!
I think that in some ways, To love Bangkok means embracing sensory overwhelm - a million moments happening at once that you could never fully absorb. But when the smells of sizzling meats and jasmine incense mingle with blaring horns, you realize there's a harmony within the madness.
You simply have to strap in and savor snippets of such a vast human tapestry in motion. Just have to enjoy the ride, even when unsure exactly where you're off to next!
