Unforgettable Summer Getaway at Marine Sanctuary, Olanggo Island Cebu

When it comes to summer time, it's either I am happy because I get to enjoy the beach and easily get to somewhere without any trouble by the rain but at the same time I am sad because the heat is sometimes unbearable. The humidity and the struggle to sleep during the day and night is really a problem.

Thanks to this unforgettable summer getaway contest because I can share with you our recent travel to a beautiful island that still belongs to the city where I live, Marine Sanctuary in Olanggo island.

Before typhoon Odette hit the city, the island was very beautiful. It's beauty gives healing to those who are weary, and in trouble emotionally. This is according to as I have experienced going to this place where I need to breathe and recharge. But after the typhoon, the island was totally devastated and the sanctuary management was not able to restore the place sooner and the numbers of tourist fall to the lowest level.

The woods standing were supposed to be the bridge that leads the tourists to the sanctuary but it was broken from the strong wind.

During those times I've visited this place, there were cottages that caters the tourists for viewing and snorkeling but there's only one left when I went there. I could not imagine how could it be restored soon when the weather these days aren't cooperating so well.

Going to the sanctuary we need to take a boat for about 2 minutes whereas before we just have to walk in the floating bridge. For two persons, my husband and I, we paid 360 php or roughly 19 steem. This fee includes the entrance, environmental, viewing, and snorkeling.

We need to use this ladder going to the boat and going back. I was hesitant to use it at first because I don't trust it but I got no choice, it's the only option unless I want to swim going to the sand bar. *This part here make me more think how unforgettable this summer getaway is, the extreme adventure since the tourists that time was only me and my husband.

Even though the way wasn't good but seeing the colors of the different fishes in the ocean makes all hard things went easy. We fed them with cooked rice and every time we do it they all gather together to share the food they have.

Since it was only me and my husband, we get all the chance to explore the sanctuary by ourselves. It was really a good experience. It was 11 o'clock in the morning when the boat man picked us up going to the receiving area of the sanctuary. We then headed to get lunch at the famous food park in the island.

We ordered seafoods and it's all at its best taste especially theirnilarang. We also had *saang, calamares, pork bbq, lechon kawali,

By the way, with all those foods you might think its only me and my husband ate them all. We actually invited the tricycle driver who give us a tour in the island. Though he said he brought some lunch with him but it is still good to have him ate with us.

After we had lunch, we went to different beaches before heading back to the port going back home.
