Children's Toothbrushing Activity

In celebration with the National Toothbrushing Month, we conducted an activity to all students in our school.

The Department of Education provided the children with new toothbrush with toothpaste. This is to encourage children to do toothbrushing and taking care of every teeth everyday. This is also an application on the HEALTH subject under MAPEH.

There is a long handwashing area in our school. This is also an area for toothbrushing. There is enough supply of water but we taught the kids to use a glass to conserve water. They were taught first the proper way of toothbrushing before doing it actually at school. Though they have prior knowledge at home, but part of 1st grader curriculum is to teach them the proper way of toothbrushing.

Handling 38 pupils while doing this activity is a bit challenge but I really made it. Giving instructions to them is not easy but thanks God they tried to follow and made a straight line on the faucet. They are a bit smart to follow simple instructions and cooperated to make our activity easy and smooth.

By this activity, the children were taught to realize the importance of toothbrushing and how can it help them minimize future problems when they become teenagers.

I personally witness their dedication to learn and eager to apply what they've learned. Giving the feedback to the parents right after our activity. They were all happy of this little achievement of their children.

Children's need adults to guide them in learning. Most needed is from the guidance of their parents right from the start of their consciousness at home.
