In continuation to the memories of Odette, let me share with you how our Christmas went. Although devastating things had happened, a lot of lives were taken and a lot of the people around were suffering from the effects of the said typhoon, life has to continue.
But before Christmas day, we had a few activities for our local church and so my husband and I prepared some gifts for the kids and the young people.
Here's my niece and my little one helping me out with the school supplies for the kids. I bought a container, some crayons, pencils, rulers, and a pack of bond paper for the Sunday School kids. There were around 30 packs of these supplies. I surely love seeing these kids happy upon receiving the gifts.

As for the youth, I forgot to take photos but they received t-shirts with prints on them that say "Sola Fide" which means "Faith Alone". There were more or less 30 young people as well who received that.
After the church events, as Christmas day came, we still set up our Christmas tree, and I prepared gifts for the niece and nephews. Their gifts were prepared a few months before Christmas because when we traveled to Cebu, I bought the gifts beforehand.
This was how our Christmas tree looked. I am glad that I already have my gifts prepared before the Typhoon hit so the kids were still happy!
And then it was time to give them. Matti did the honor of handing the gifts to his cousins.

Everyone were happy and I was also grateful to receive some gifts for Matti! His grandparents gave him a pair of shoes and his aunt gave some shorts and polo shirts.
We were grateful despite what had happened. Our farmers were even able to plant new seedlings and they were growing well after just a week! Indeed, life has to move on!

It was not good to prepare a lot of food because there was no electricity and our fridge was not turned on at that time so we only coked what we believe can be eaten during that day.
Everything has a reason and for us, we experienced this to strengthen our faith, to be content with the basics of life, and be happy with whatever we have, but most importantly, Christmas was a blessing for us because it is a reminder of how our Saviour came to our world to save us from all our unrighteousness. Praise God for His sustaining grace!
