Steemit Philippines Steem Promotion "Craft Contest" by junebride

As soon as the Steemit Philippines moderators mentioned that there’s an art contest, I decided to join. Deep in my heart, I had been wanting to have a “me” time and do arts. You know, having a baby is quite a challenge because I don’t own my time anymore. My baby directs what I will do in this time and such.

Thankfully, this Sunday, it was rainy, a perfect time to have tea and make arts. I asked the husband if I could have some relaxation time and what I meant was I wanted to make art, he knows that and he is aware that it is my passion yet I have not created one in the longest time since giving birth so he said go ahead but it must not take long, I nodded.

And so I grabbed my materials, all I have in mind is a black and white theme for the Steemit promotional piece. I picked the following materials:

Sumi Ink from Spark Davao
Sakura Pigma Micron 01 and 05
Waterbrush pen

I was drafting this in our bedroom and I used the lamited wood flooring as a backdrop for these photos but I got backache from bending down so I went to my husband’s office instead.

Sitting was better of course especially that I am now making doodles. I am not good with drawing realistic items so I just doodle.

Did you know that everyone of us has an artistic talent when we were younger? This talent is present in each person however, only those who made a huge effort in practicing this talent can achieve success of being an artist. But it is our innate because our creator is an artist and we are made in His image.

That is why, if you are a parent, I highly suggest that if your child has an interest in arts, in drawing or any kind of arts, support them. Buy them materials, send them to teaching classes, make every effort that they can enhance their skills.

I know it is easier said than done but there’s always a way for things to happen. If there’s a will, there’s a way as how the cliche quote says.

Going back, in no time, I was already done with my draft doodles, I promised my husband this will be very quick but it takes time in fact. I started tracing the draft. I used the Micron pen here and the first is always scary. Tehee.

But as soon as I get over the first part, I hurried and finished tracing in no time. This is actually a whole page art and the paper is 7x10 size. Here’s a preview:

I used the waterbrush pen and the Sumi Ink to fill the empty spaces with black and to make the word Steem with thicker tracing. It was fun and I was surprised that the brush Pen and the Sumi ink worked well together. This kind of ink dries fast so I had no issues with smudging or whatever. The paper is also thick enough that the ink didn’t blotch to the other page.

Now I had to work on the details. It’s been awhile that I made this kind of doodle art but for Steem, I am up for this challenge. I could think of any other patterns to make so I just repeated the very few doodle patterns I could think of.

And I finished this black and white doodle art promotion for Steem. When I looked at it, I desired to paint the word Steem with a different color but decided to just keep it that way.

Let's look at the details

Can you see how the doodles coming from the letter S look like little fishes? Yes, I am one of those fishes swimming in this vast ocean where whales and dolphins are present. Those can also represent thoughts steaming out of Steem because whenever I wanted to, I can always write whatever is on my mind in Steemit.

I am grateful to the Steemit Philippines community for this initiative and I had fun making my art, I hope I can make more in the next days. Thanks to my husband for supporting me, giving me some “me” time.
