"A teacher affects eternity; He can never tell where his influence stops" - Henry B. Adams
Hello everyone! Today I will share to you how we celebrated the World Teachers' Day and how our students made this day extra special.
With the shift from face to face classes to distance learning, we teacher sometimes forget to appreciate ourselves because we tend to forget our influence to our students. At first our faculty didn't have a plan to celebrate this day since we have a lot of things to do, but with the persistence and encouragement of our school head we celebrated this day memorably.
7:00 to 11:00 AM
Because it is still a working day, we spent our morning in the school to prepare the learning modules of our learners. We cannot just spend the day off knowing that the learning modules of our students are not yet prepared. The room and the teachers are very busy, we also have a lot of paper works to do. At this moment I can say that teachers are really selfless, even though it is their day they still spent the morning at school.
At around 10:00 AM our SSG Adviser/Coordinator told us to check our messenger because our students have a surprise for us. And because our area in the school doesn't have a signal reception we immediately climb the stairs hoping to catch a signal and check our students.
We are very surprised of the video greetings from our students, they greeted us individually and they express how thankful they are to us because of our hardwork. As soon as I received the messages my heart grew warm and felt loved. I though that they forgot us because we are not with them during this time.
Some students greeted me personally and my class advisory students are messaging me saying how thankful they are to me. I feel very loved and appreciated, I feel like all my tiredness and stress evaporated quickly because of this gesture.
11:30 AM
At around 11:30 in the morning we pulled out from the school and went to Arterra Hotel and Resort here in our city to held our small program for Teachers' Day. This is a seaside hotel just 20 minutes from Mactan Cebu International Airport, here we rented their Activity Hall for our event. And because it is Teachers' Day, they gave us some discount that includes the use of the pool and shower.
We had a small lunch with our co teachers, the venue is limited only to 50 people because of the minimum health standards, but thankfully we are only 48 in our department.
After lunch we also have some fun playing games. My co workers gathered some prices from donors and solicitors who are willing to support us during our day. We played parlor games and other games that we surely had fun like Bring Me, QandA, etc. We also danced to trending Tiktok dances and had a videoke. There are also raffles during the event and the prizes are cellphone load and a resort accommodation. Luckily, I won a 100 pesos load. Yey!
These are my prizes and my other two co-teacher in some of the games, yay!
We had so much fun in this day. Here are some photos that I want to treasure forever.
After the fun games we also has a relaxing time in the pool. Teachers' Day it is!
This day has been an unforgettable day for me. I did not expect this to be this memorable since my students are not with me during this time but they never fail to surprise me that even though they are not with me to celebrate this day they made an effort to send video messages and chat messages to make me feel appreciated. My co teachers are also very fun and persistent in celebrating this day, and we all deserve this.
During this distance learning due to pandemic, I realized that it is the teachers that makes the difference and this difference is not limited in the four walls of the classroom.
I would like to invite my friends and co-teachers @umme @jenesa @aprilmarieyaun to join this contest and share their experience during teachers day.
Well, I guess that's all for today. Thank you so much for reading, 'till next time!
