Completely Devastated By Typhoon Odette

I thought it was just a nightmare for all of us, I hoped so but it wasn't. It was a horrific tragedy that I have experienced for my whole life. We will spend our Christmas homeless and the worst thing is that we will be welcoming the year 2022 with nothingness.

The day before the super Typhoon Odette hit everything was fine, everyone was busy preparing for the upcoming yuletide season. Just an ordinary day and everyone has no traces for what is the serious danger coming ahead. December 16, 2021 the weather was already inclement. Surigao, Bohol, Cebu and Leyte was declared signal number 4 by PAG-ASA and everyone was advised to evacuate in a safer place most especially for those who are leaving near the sea shore and those unsafe areas because the typhoon was expected to turn out to be a Super Typhoon. It was 5:00 pm when the strong winds began to blow, we gathered to have early dinner and after that I was busy checking on the updates of the typhoon. I keep on scrolling my phone, chatting with some friends and relatives from Bohol and informing them to keep safe and evacuate as much as possible because the typhoon will landfall in a few hours. I prepared my bag and packed all necessary things to be prepared for whatever may happen. Around 7:00 pm when the wind seems to be stronger, I can really feel it being ferocious and can even wipe out an ordinary house that was made of light materials . I was already shivering at that time and my nervousness was unexplainable. The wind was already wild and our neighbor's roof started to be blown by that very strong wind. I started to panic, I can see that our roof will be blown anytime, GI roof were already flying everywhere. My partner, me and our two year old baby seek shelter in our CR to hide, just in case the roof will surrender. Few minutes later our roof was already flying too, the wall at both sides were already collapsing and our c.r is about to collapse too. I was hopeless, I was already praying while crying and my baby was already crying too. Was already restless, big chances that if our c.r will collapse the 3 of us will be hit by the walls. Suddenly our neighbor knocked the door in the middle of our hopelessness and rescued us, bringing us into a concrete house where many rescued individuals whose houses were already destroyed were all there. It was already around 9:00 pm when Odette was still hurling destruction to the whole village that even the concrete houses were attacked by its strong wind and also the place where we evacuated were almost destroyed too. Me and my baby were hiding under the sink just in case the house would surrender, at least I can protect my baby from flying debris. We stayed there for almost an hour to seek our safety. I can hear everyone's screams every time the typhoon hits the concrete houses ruthlessly. It was about 10:30 pm when the typhoon slows down and everyone had regain strength

Aftermath of the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, very heart breaking but still grateful because my whole family in Bohol was safe too, material things can be slowly replaced but lost lives cannot be restored. I am very thankful because none of my family members were hurt. For now all the affected areas were in a state of survival, hoarding for food, water and gasoline.
