How are you doing? I hope everyone is in good health always. Health is wealth specially this time of pandemic.
Despite of all challenges we've facing everyday. We need to have a positive outlook in life. Speaking of positivity I have a good news that I wanna share to you. Have you heard the LIBRENG SAKAY? This month I'm happy to know that there is a free ride of the improvised jeepneys, v-hires, and buses in our place and not only in our place but it's all over the country.
It started in Metro Manila and now it is implemented nationwide. It was a program proposed by Mr. Arthur T. Tugade, Secretary of Department of Transportation. At first, it was intended for the medical health workers and front liners but it was extended to include the person authorized outside residence (APOR). In other words, all essential workers or I can say all commuters can avail that free ride. Since, only essential workers are allowed or encouraged to go out this time of pandemic.
This free ride is a great help to us ordinary commuters specially this time of pandemic. Due to health protocols like physical distancing, limited passengers are allowed to ride in public vehicles and that causes fare also increased, so it's a burden to us commuters to pay higher fare specially the minimum wage earners. When this free ride started in our place many of us were happy and trying to avail that privilege. Saving some amount of money in our daily budget really matters.
Here in Cebu particularly in MEPZ where many workers from nearby cities and provinces working in the economic zone. They provide this free ride in certain routes and places. Passengers who wants to avail the privilege will patiently wait until the mini buses comes. Fortunately, our town was included and had 10 mini buses running for free ride from morning until evening. Many passengers wants to ride this free ride. I ride it many times already. I'm so glad that my budget intended for my fare was diverted to other purpose and I'm able to buy my other basic needs. It was a big help.
According to the driver who I got a chance to talk. This free ride estimated until December, 2021. Still more free ride to avail. Thanks to DOTr secretary and to the Philippine government. Sa mga wala pa naka sakay, sakay namo!
