As we know, accident is not planned occurrence, it’s an exigencies and can happen to anyone irrespective of the personality except we are able to adhere to instructions, road signs and also be careful.
- THE MOST TERRIBLE ACCIDENT I EVER EXPERIENCED
It was during this holiday season, so I was travelling from Uyo, Akwa Ibom State to Calabar, Cross River state, Nigeria. As we were going on the road along Odukpani road, I noticed that the road consists of numerous vehicles with passengers in it and most especially there was plenty trucks carrying building materials and the drivers were on a high speed trying to overtake each other. It was a public transport, so there was other passengers along side with me in the bus. As we going, the driver was driving on a normal speed level but later he changed the speed level, little did he know that there was a truck following us and another one in front. He was really on a high speed that I tried to talk to him to reduce it but he paid deaf ears and saying nothing will happen. Unfortunately for him, he had a brake failure and he couldn’t control it but he manage to control the steering wheel which landed us in a thick bush. The driver sustained some injuries on the left leg and also hit his knees, some passengers got some minor injuries and I hit my knee.
WHAT CAUSED THE ACCIDENT
It was after everything was calm that I understood that the driver was trying to dodge some road safety personnel.
Also, the driver was tipsy, so he noticed that he was really speeding.
CONCLUSION
Road accident is unexpected, in this sense drivers should try to be couscous, they should also have a daily routine of their vehicles maintenance and also ensure that they have complete particulars for their vehicles.
By so doing, accident can be avoided.
- ROAD ACCIDENT AND HOW TO AVOID IT
Road accident is really common because of how reckless drivers has become either through speeding, overtaking their colleagues, running away from road safety or lack of understanding the road signs.
Road accident can be elucidated as an unexpected occurrence that happens on road open to many vehicles which leads to one sustaining damages or injuries.
HOW TO AVOID IT
There are many ways in which accident can be avoided, these include;
i. Under engine maintenance regularly: vehicles should be taken for maintenance at least weekly to ensure safety.
ii. Watch out for children: Children and adults has the habit of popping out from nowhere to the road unexpectedly as such, drivers should be watchful and drive carefully.
iii. Use of seatbelt: Drivers should ensure the use of seatbelt and other safety equipment when driving.
iv. Avoid speeding
v. Drinking alcohol: Drivers should avoid excessive drinking of alcohol when driving.
vi. Road signs: Road signs should be taken note of, to avoid accident.
