Good morning and hope you are enjoying the weekend...
The word compassion is hardly talked about today but it is a very important aspect in our work with God.
“And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.” (Matthew 14:14)
When you study the life of Jesus Christ—our Lord and Savior, one thing you will find out is a deep compassion for people. "Jesus was never too busy, or too weary, to minister Divine comfort to suffering humanity." -A. P. Gibbs On one occasion, a woman whose daughter was vexed with a devil cried out to Him to heal her. His disciples said to Him, "Send her away; for she crieth after us." Twice, Jesus communicated to her that He was sent to the house of Israel. But this woman knew that He was full of compassion, hence, she persisted in her request. Jesus now responded to her, "‘O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt.’ And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.” (Matthew 15:21-28).
In another instance, after Jesus had taught the multitudes for days, the disciples came again and asked Him to send them away in their hungry state. But not our Lord And Savior—Jesus Christ who is full of compassion. He said to them, "They need not depart; give ye them to eat." Afterwards, He multiplied 5 loaves of bread and two fishes that fed 5,000 men excluding women and children. (Matthew 14:13-21)
Yet again in another scenario, Jesus wasn't received in the village of Samaritans. The disciples, James and John came to Him and asked, "Lord, wilt thou that we command fire to come down from heaven, and consume them, even as Elias did?" Jesus responded, "Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of. For the Son of man is not come to destroy men's lives, but to save them." (Luke 9:51-56). That's our Jesus. It's the same Jesus with the same story. He is still full of compassion always, even today. He heals, provides and preserves lives. Trust Him much more.
Blessed, are you. God loves you. Yes, you!
