The above caption was a question from a Christian lady living outside the shores of Nigeria.
She wants to know if it is a lesser evil to use dildo or vibrator to stimulate herself to orgasm than fornicating with a man.
There are so many unmarried Christian sisters who are into self-stimulation because they are burning and are over ripe for marriage.
Now, for someone to use dildo to stimulate herself to orgasm, it means that she's driven by lust or preoccupied with lustful desires.
Also, sex is a natural biological imperative. The urge for it is a natural inclination. But as Christians, sex is only allowed in marriage.
Meaning, a Christian who is not married must practice abstinence by learning to nip the urge for sex in the bud until when married.
Scripturally, self-stimulation is lasciviousness! Lasciviousness is one of the works of the flesh listed in Galatians 5:19.
Lasciviousness is not a lesser evil to fornication. They are both the works of the flesh.
So to answer this question, we need to understand God's perspective of sin.
Romans 14:23 says that anything that does not originate and proceed from faith is sin. This is actually what God calls sin.
What then is faith? Faith means acting on God's word! Now, what is God's Word concerning the works of the flesh?
Galatians 5:16 says that if we walk in the spirit, we will not gratify the desires of the flesh.
To walk in the Spirit means to be responsive to the guidance of the recreated human spirit.
The moment a person becomes born again, there is an automatic conflict between his godless human nature (flesh) and his recreated human spirit (Galatians 5:17).
This antagonism between his flesh and spirit continues to prevent him from doing what he wishes to do until he gains the mastery over his body.
Sadly, not so many Christians have gained the mastery over their body or learn to put it in subjection to the authority of their recreated human spirit.
That is why many Christians still shuttle between living in the spirit and living in the flesh. It is a constant struggle for many.
1 Corinthians 9:27 says, "But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection..." What does this mean?
It means to strike a blow to the body and make it your slave. How's this done?
It means to strike the body like a boxer, handle it roughly, discipline it by hardships and then subdue it.
Practically, this means to deny your body the pleasure it expresses a desire for even when it is intense and compelling.
Colossians 3:5 says to us to put to death everything that belongs to our earthly nature: sexual immorality, impurity, lust, evil desires and greed, which is idolatry.
How's this done?
To put to death means to deprive of power. God is simply instructing us to deprive of power those evil desires and earthly impulses that are employed in sin.
The tool for deadening lust, lasciviousness, fornication, or adultery is to make a practice of acting on God’s Word everytime.
Refuse to yield your body to the sexual cravings lurking in it.
