This lecture was prompted by a question on våginal steaming asked by a group member of Healthy Lifestyle & Fertility Support Group . After going through the comments, I realized the need for this lecture.
Let's start with what Vãginal Steaming is?
Basically, vaginal steaming aka V-steaming or Yoni-steaming is an old and continuous practise of alternative health when women squat over a steaming water for 15 to 30minutes. This steaming water is usually laced with different substances ranging from salt, detol, leaves, and various herbs. The major goal of this practice is to cleanse the uterus, especially after menstruation. Some women also use it for hormonal and fertility related issues, while others use it for tightening the vãgina.
The fact is that, in as much as the steaming can open the vàginal pores and penetrate the vãginal tissue to a minimal extent, it can never penetrate or reach the uterus.
Aside from the physical "feel-good vibe" that comes from the steaming, there's no any other health benefits to it.
As a matter of fact, the practise is harmful to you as it can inflicts on you the following:
- Disrupts your Vàginal PH balance
- Enables bad bacteria which can cause yeast infection, and several other våginal Infections
- Makes your vågina more sensitive and prone to disease
- It can lead to 2nd degree våginal burn / vãgina scalding.
...to mention but few
If you're concerned about how to cleanse your uterus after period, the simple answer is that our body cleanses the uterus all on its own after each period, and you do not need to do anything, aside a simple warm shower and washing of your labia (the outer lips of your genital) with warm water only. Do not wash with soap as it will destroy your pH and vaginal microflora.
However, if you must do something after your period, a simple intake of the below detox is enough for you:
#Guava_Leaves_And_Cloves_Detox:
Get a good quantity of guava leaves and few cloves. Wash properly, boil in two litres of water until the liquid is reduced to half, allow it to cool and drink 1 cup of it for 3 days. Warm it for subsequent days before drinking.
Other ways to care for your vaginal and/or uterus include:
✅Wash your vaginá with clean water only.
✅Avoid scented soaps, and bubble baths.
✅Avoid using such products as vaginal sprays
✅Avoid dipping your fingers into your vaginá
✅During foreplay with your significant other, ensure their finger nails are well trimmed, neatly kept, and hands thoroughly washed before fore play.
✅Change out of wet or damp pants/underwear as soon as you can.
✅After urinating, clean with water and pat dry yourself with unscented wipes or toilet paper
✅After toileting, make sure your are washing from front to back, and not otherwise
✅And the last but not the least, drink a minimum of 8 glasses of water daily to promote a good blood flow and circulation to your uterus.
