She was from a very uncomfortable home. Early every morning, she will wake up to so e nagging from either parents or siblings or any member of the family. She tried everything she could to wave it off but the effects were evidently seen on her everyday.
This made her perform poorly in most of her academic activities. At first, her friends tried helping her out but all efforts were futile. Friends started deserting her and she started feeling the real force of loneliness and depression.
In some occasions, she had her lecturers shout at her as if she was a five year old. She got really discouraged and felt there was really nothing to live for.
She had only one source of happiness, that was music. Even when she turned to God, there was no such thing as speedy response so she felt there was no need. The only thing that gave life to her soul was music, so she stuck to it.
Even in the community, she was tagged a member of the useless family. People constantly mocked her whenever she wants to make an opinion or prove a point. Nobody wanted to associate with her.
Little by little, she kept pushing and was gradually progressing in her academics even though she wasn't even among the best or middle class in school. Discouragements came but somehow, she pushed.
She kept singing anytime she feels down and it revived her soul severally. One day, she passed by an open lounge where people were performing some shows. She decided to stop by and take a glance.
Some artistes from different parts of the country were performing live and she loved the sight of it. She was happy for the first time that she forgot to check time. She enjoyed the show like nothing else.
As the show was about ending, the organizers gave an opportunity to anybody in the audience to come and perform. For the first time, her spirit was alive and she didn't even know when she stepped out to the stage. She got the mic and sang a very touching song.
The song she sang was a song that she had hoped to release one day. All her emotions were poured into that song. People were broken. She bursted into tears as she sang.
At the end of her performance, the judges gave their judgements. All of them emphasized that the stage was not for emotions. She was still crying. As she was about stepping back, a very beautiful lady with captivating appearance walked up to her.
"You are as beautiful as your voice. I would love to sign you to the R&B record label. I love your charisma", the lady said.
She didn't believe what happened. The tears turned to tears of joy. She was overwhelmed. Her joy was unexplainable. Not because she could sing, but she did what nobody believed her to have done. Her joy was not written off by those who thought ill of her.
She's doing well today in the music industry. It's not about what people see or think of you. It's about you and your destiny. Don't cut it short! Believe in yourself and everything will be possible.
