Hello guys,
This is indeed a very interesting topic for discussion, when I saw the topic, I just remembered my secondary school days where I was given a name Mr English. Before I begin with my story about my journey in English Language, I want to appreciate the admin of these great community for his/her tireless effort in making sure that these community is always busy doing the needful. More grace to your elbow for the good work you are doing in these amazing platform via these community.
Well it all started these way. I grew up with my native tongue because I was staying in the village where teachers use native tongue to teach us all. After my primary education, I traveled to the town for my secondary education. Getting to the town, everyone is busy speaking English. At first I was not too comfortable because replying them was really a very big issue. I was always mocked by my friends and teachers, they say I don't like talking because I can't construct a very simple sentence. I was always left isolated and no body wants to associate with me because of these.
I picked up a challenge to speak English language without minding whether or not am wrong or right. It was really not a very easy time for me because my accent was really very bad. Most time I will pronounce what my teacher finish pronouncing and everyone in the class will start laughing. They made caricature of me almost anytime I speak. When ever the want to laugh and am in the class the will deliberately ask me a question just to hear me talk. Most of them mimic me often, I was almost discouraged but I kept on pushing because I was determined to learn. I continued speaking English language, and that is when they gave me the name Mr. English. After a long run my accent became more clear, I was mentored by one of our corps member who saw a potential in me and believed I can do better in English language.
I want to appreciate steemit as a platform, because I have really learnt a lot from these amazing platform. More also I want to appreciate as many who have help me to grow in these platform either by correction, suggestions, comments and even by voting.
