Joan Osborne

Joan Osborne, nacida en Anchorage, Kentucky, Louisville , Joan se muda a Nueva York en los años 80´s para estudiar cine, fue alumna del legendario documentalista George Stoney , Joan se tomaba un tiempo libre para ganar dinero en distintos trabajos y cantando, por casualidad, cantó una noche de micrófono abierto. Los otros músicos la animaron a regresar y comenzó a cantar semanalmente. Pronto se sumergió en la escena de la música en vivo de Nueva York, nace así su propia banda y de este modo presentar en destinos club, llegando a compartir escenario con músicos como Sweetones, Surreal McCoys , Spin Doctors , Blues Traveler y Holmes Brothers , y artistas como Chris Whitley , Frankie Paris y Jeff Buckley.

Para el año 1991, registra su propio sello discográfico, Womanly Hips, lanzando su primer álbum de larga duración, Soul Show: Live at Delta 88 , de este modo inicia sus éxitos, aún que prácticamente el tema que la lanza a los reconocimientos de las listas de los mas sonados de la radio fue el tema "One Of Us" que llego a ocupar el segundo puesto de la lista Billboard, este tema llego a ser muy criticado por los lideres de la iglesias cristianas de las EEUU, por que en el se refiere a Dios de manera en que se humanizaba en base a la pregunta principal de la misma canción "Uno más como nosotros"
