Hi everyone,
I enjoy traveling, especially at night. There are not too many vehicles on the road, and you will reach your destination on time. As a traveler, you will enjoy the fresh air; everywhere will look quiet with no distractions. During that time, I will listen to the audio recitation of the Quran until I reach my final destination. Traveling is a memorable journey I can never forget and those experiences.
Yes, I had traveled to so many places, meeting new friends from different tribes in Nigeria. We exchanged in meaningful conversations about the way forward for our country. I traveled to Kano state located in the northern part of Nigeria. I was posted for my one-year mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC). Kano state is an amazing city and is the commercial center for all northern states. I was welcomed by good people and they treated me like a brother from another mother.
I visited this special place with a friend; we are from the same state, so fortunately, we are posted together. One of the beautiful places we visited was Bayero University Kano (BUK). We moved around the school campus. Some of the visited places are the Student Union Government (SUG) building, Dangote Business School, and other administrative blocks. We explored those places and saw beautiful architecture we had never seen before.
They have special food which tastes yummy and delicious. I could remember the day I ate lettuce, garbage with white rice. It tasted sweet, and I didn't want the food to finish while eating it. Like I said earlier, Kano State is the center of commerce in the northern region. I visited their large market called 'Filling Parking' or Kwari Market where they were selling different African fabrics such as cashmere, galilah, gini, and akara. Most of the textiles are manufactured in their region.
No, this is my first time traveling to Kano state. I didn't feel comfortable because their main language is Hausa, while my own language is Yoruba. A language barrier occurs since I don't understand their language. Most of them cannot speak English fluently; if you speak English to them, they prefer to respond in their own language. As time goes on, I adapt because I don't have a choice. I learned their language little by little, particularly when I want to buy food from them. Kano state is a nice place to visit, and their culture is so unique.
Their place is a tourist attraction center where different people from all over the world visit their historical center, such as Gidan Dan Hausa Museum, Bashir Uthman Tofa Mosque, Gidan Rumfa, and other historical places like that. Kano State was created on May 27, 1961, by General Yakubu Gowon. They have a good road network with no potholes, which can damage the vehicle. They are the most populated in Nigeria, and their government really tries for them in terms of education and economy improvement for both indigenes and non-indigenes.
Traveling is part of the human experience. It helps us to know other people's culture and their ways of life. I will like to invite @bonaventure24, @richy20 and @safdarali to come and participate in this contest.
