The wedding day is a momentous occasion for both bride and groom, marking the beginning of their official union as husband and wife. Having attended numerous wedding ceremonies in my home country of Nigeria, I'd like to share some of my memorable experiences, with a focus on traditional marriages, which are prevalent here.
In this contest organised by @mostofajaman, I'll delve into the traditional wedding ceremony of a dear friend I attended, sharing my personal feelings and reflections on the experience. I'll also touch on my future plans and aspirations for my own special day.
Let's begin by exploring the following questions:
How do you feel about attending a wedding event at a relative's wedding?
My Christian brother and relative, @ubikool, tied the knot with his beautiful bride, Roseline, on September 7th, 2024. I was honored to be part of the celebration on his special day.
As I reflected on the occasion, I felt overwhelming joy. Marriage is a sacred institution, ordained by God in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, many young people today do not value marriage, instead opting for casual relationships that often lead to unplanned pregnancies. They mistakenly believe that having a child together is equivalent to being married.

This is why I was particularly happy 😊 to see ubikool take the right and Godly path to marriage. He demonstrated patience, commitment, and a deep respect for the institution of marriage.
The night before the wedding, I couldn't sleep, eagerly anticipating the moment when ubikool would place the ring on Roseline's finger. The feeling of witnessing this young couple, both under 30, take the right steps towards marriage, is etched in my memory forever. In today's world, it's a rare and beautiful thing to see, so I was happy attending the wedding event of ubikool.
How many wedding events have you attended and share your feelings and experiences there?
Among the numerous wedding events I've attended, I'd like to share my experiences and feelings from two that stand out. Let me start with @ubikool's traditional marriage ceremony.

I was honored to be part of his groomsmen, dancing alongside him on his special day. Although the custom attire was pricey, I worked hard to acquire it because I was happy to see him tie the knot.
In Nigeria, specifically in Akwa Ibom State, we have a unique way of conducting traditional wedding ceremonies. As custom dictates, both the groom's and bride's families followed the traditional protocol, seeking permission from each other through the symbolic presentation of wine.

Witnessing this rich cultural heritage was an unforgettable experience, and I was heartened to see our traditions continue to thrive to this day. To express my joy, I danced with all my heart😀. It's not every day you see a young man dancing with such high spirits. Catch a glimpse of me, the newlyweds and groomsmen, in this lively dancing video👇🏾
To express my heartfelt joy, I joined my fellow groomsmen in dancing with ubikool on his unforgettable wedding day. This experience held a special place in my heart, as it marked my first time serving as a groomsman at a wedding.
The memory of that day and moment remains dear to me, and I cherish the privilege of having shared in ubikool's happiness.

Another wedding that comes to mind is that of Inameti, who tied the knot with a lovely young lady. Interestingly, it was just three weeks after ubikool's marriage. Inameti took the bold step of officially calling her his wife, and the joy was massive.
What made this occasion even more special was that Inameti was over 30, and many thought he might not get married again. But as we say, "with God, all things are possible." On September 28th, he exchanged vows, and our congregation and family rejoiced with him.
@bossj23, who also attended the wedding, shared in the happiness of the occasion. Do you want to see how bossj expressed his happiness? Okay then, watch the video below 👇🏾
When it comes to dancing, especially our traditional dance, bossj23 is the undisputed king. He brought the house down with his electrifying moves at Inameti's wedding. It was my second time witnessing his incredible talent, and I was blown away.
The feelings and experiences I had at both ubikool and Inameti's wedding events were truly unforgettable, and I feel grateful to have been a part of them.
Here are some pictures we captured during Inameti's special day👇🏾

If you are married, how was your wedding event completed? If not, how do you plan to complete the event? Tell us about your future plans.
As I reflect on my experiences attending numerous wedding events, I've begun to envision my own special day. Someday, I'll tie the knot, and I've already started planning to make it an unforgettable celebration.
My future wedding will be a white wedding, and I've set my sights on a unique event center that can accommodate 500 guests or more. With a large network of friends, family, and acquaintances from the crypto, Steem, and forex communities, I want to ensure everyone has a memorable experience.
Music and dance will play a significant role in the celebration. I'll hire a professional DJ and personally select the special song for my first dance with my wife. We'll also have exciting games and activities to keep everyone entertained.
This day will be a pivotal moment in my life, and I'm committed to making it extraordinary while avoiding debt. I believe that with careful planning, I can create a joyous and memorable celebration that will leave a lasting impression on my loved ones and me.
If you have any customs or traditions of your family or area at wedding events, please share them with us.
In my family, we follow a traditional and respectful approach to marriage. Before a man can marry a woman from another family, he must first seek the consent of her parents, but only after his partner has agreed to marry him.
Once both parties have agreed, the man is typically provided with a list of items he is expected to provide as a symbol of his commitment. He will then discuss the list with his parents and determine what he can provide.
After an agreement is reached, a date is set for the man to deliver the items, and a wedding date is also fixed. During the ceremony, the couple receives blessings from both sets of parents, exchanges vows, rings, and is officially announced as husband and wife. Below is an example of the blessings I'm talking about via video....👇🏾
Sorry about the language, it's our traditional language (Ibibio). This traditional process is deeply rooted in our family's values and is a cherished part of our cultural heritage.
While marriage is a joyous occasion, it's essential to acknowledge the challenges that come with it. One must be prepared to face difficulties and endure during hard times.
Unfortunately, marriage-related tragedies have occurred in my area, highlighting the importance of following necessary steps to ensure a safe and healthy union.
This concludes my publication about wedding events, where I shared my feelings, experiences, and insights into our customs and traditions.
I'd like to invite @goodybest @memamun and @sergyk to please participate in this contest.
