Hello, everyone from home and abroad. Warm regards to y'all; I'm Anthony from Nigeria, and it's a pleasure to have you on my blog; I'm engaging in this week's amazing Contest titled: "My Favourite Transport" organized by @solaymann, I will proceed to the question...
Before I proceed I would like to thank @solaymann, especially the organizer of this amazing contest.
What kind of fuel is your country's transportation powered by?
Here are my points on this dynamic:
Nigeria's transportation sector is mostly powered by petroleum (gasoline) and diesel, with compressed natural gas (CNG) emerging as an optional fuel.
B&W photograph of a filling station.
Furthermore, with the recent removal of fuel subsidies in Nigeria, the government has been trying to promote the use of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) as a cleaner and more cost-effective supplement.
Which of the modes of transportation is more popular in your country?
Nigeria has various transportation, but I would say Land Transportation is more popular e.g are;
- Roads: The most popular extensive network, connecting major cities and towns.
- Buses: Public and private bus services (e.g., Lux Bus).
- Taxis: Available in major cities (eg., Abuja, Lagos, Port Harcourt).
- Okada (Motorcycles): Popular for short-distance travel, including Keke napep.
- Trains: Least popular limited services, mainly for cargo and passenger transport.
Tell us about at least three transportation that exist in your area.
Talking about transportation in my area, this means it is a short distance travel which does not cost too much because there are many of it, although petroleum is way expensive now so there is inflation in everything including transportation.
These are the transportation that exists in my area:
- Cycling: Common in rural areas.
- Okada (Motorcycle): Popular and common to see especially in rural areas
- Walking: Common in our daily lives, pedestrian travel in urban and rural areas.
- Tricycles (Keke Napep): Three-wheeled vehicles for short-distance travel.
Preferred and affordable for citizens.
What is the cost of transportation used in your area?
The cost of transportation in my area, Nigeria precisely, has been facing a significant surge in recent times; due to the removal of fuel subsidies and rising inflation rates, the cost of transportation causes an inflation rate in goods and services.
Furthermore, there isn't a fixed price for transportation you can choose to negotiate with the driver or the bikers after hearing his price, here we call it pricing is very normal in all areas of Nigeria, the price of transportation changes depending on what the cost of petroleum, but the minimum of ₦100 in short distance using Keke napep, I hope I'm able to enlighten this very well, thanks for allowing me to talk about my country transportation.
I have come to the end of this blog, thanks for stopping by!!!
NB: All the photographs used are original.
I would like to respectfully invite @dexyluz, @john247, @ahmneska, Ciao 👋🏽
